Housekeeping Jobs

Position Summary
Under the direction of the Branch Executive the Housekeeping Staff are responsible for maintaining positive relationships with members, program participants and guests by providing clean, sanitary, comfortable, tidy and welcoming facilities and grounds.
Essential Functions

• Maintain an organized and safe work area related to storage of chemicals, paper products, tools and other housekeeping supplies and proper disposal of all items exposed to blood-borne pathogens.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
• Know and follow the safety guidelines related to working with chemicals and equipment and complying with safety and regulations and codes.
• Perform housekeeping duties on a daily schedule with limited supervision, while maintaining a high level of cleanliness both inside and outside of YMCA building.
• Ensures YMCA building and property are secure during shift and report incidents and hazardous conditions to supervisor.

Qualifications

• Knowledge of cleaning and sanitation products, techniques and methods
• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Physical stamina and mobility
• Working knowledge of operating cleaning equipment

Practical Responsibilities

• Disposal of trash
• Clean flooring
• Dusting
• Clean bathrooms
• Report repairs
• Operating mechanized cleaning equipment

Work Environment & Physical Demands

• The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds.
• Exposure to cleaning chemicals, blood-borne pathogens and bodily fluid.
• While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, sit, reach, balance, stoop, kneel or crouch for a long period of time and talk and hear.
