Job Description

PRIMARY PURPOSE:

The primary role of the Sales Manager is to negotiate and contract room rates and meeting space for mid‐size group events from 75-300 rooms on peak nights. It is the responsibility of the Manager to identify new business and maintain and manage existing accounts, secure future business opportunities within their respective markets and increase revenues through making sales trips, attending conferences, tradeshows, and other industry functions to create awareness and promote group business.

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Evaluate and manage inquiries through pre‐qualifications, rate negotiations, issue proposals and contracts, process bookings, and follow up appropriately with established and prospective clients all in accordance with established departmental policies and procedures.
  • Provide input and execute strategic plan for assigned geographic territory consistent with department goals.
  • Represent company at tradeshows, client & industry events and maintain consistency within the corporate standard.
  • Identify and develop opportunities to maximize revenue by selling all facets of the hotel.
  • Perform other job‐related duties as requested.
  • Create and maintain a work environment which promotes teamwork across MGMRI properties/departments, performance, feedback, recognition, mutual respect, and employee satisfaction.
  • Develop and grow new and existing accounts to meet and exceed revenue goals by prospecting, making sales calls, entertaining and conducting site inspections; all through persuasive verbal and written communication.
  • Perform all duties in compliance with departmental and Hotel policies, practices, legal requirements, and procedures.

PREFERRED:

  • Previous sales experience working in a similar hotel/resort setting.
  • 3 + years’ experience in hospitality or sales.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Proficient in PC software (Stratus, Windows, Excel, MS Word, Daylight and Microsoft Exchange)
  • Organizational skills to function effectively under time constraints, within established deadlines and with attention to detail
  • Effective listening abilities with strong judgment skills
  • Must have interpersonal skills to deal effectively with all business contacts
  • Excellent customer services skills
  • Maintain a professional image and enthusiastic demeanor at all times, especially when traveling on business
