Job Description

Are you a student in a health-related program? Would you like to gain some patient-facing experience in a hospital setting but aren't sure you have the time? We would love to have your help, on your schedule!

UPMC Mercy is currently hiring a casual Hospitality Associate to support its Radiology Support/Imaging department. This position will work a minimum of 8 hours per week.

As a Hospitality Associate, you will escort patients back and forth from either the waiting room or the Emergency Department to the CT area. You will assist with turning over the scan table, cleaning fresh linens in-between patients, checking for expired items in the different storage areas, helping patients get changed and ready for X-Rays and more.

Since this position is casual, you have the flexibility to create your own consistent schedule around your schooling and activities! Two hours each Monday? Four hours after class? Great! If you are willing to share your time and gain valuable experience, we would love to have you!

Responsibilities:

***Please note, the below responsibilities are relevant to the Hospitality Associate position, but not necessarily relevant or required for our outpatient departments.

EVS Associate Responsibilities

  • Remove trash from all assigned areas/replenish supplies as needed.
  • Make beds, following established cleaning procedures in all patient discharge rooms and on-call rooms as assigned.
  • Inspect and ensure that all assigned areas are properly cleaned and in good repair, report problems to the supervisor.
  • Clean all assigned areas, including patient rooms, public areas, toilets, procedure rooms, offices and equipment, following established procedures.

Destination Coordinator Responsibilities

  • Greet Hospital guests positively, and provide appropriate verbal assistance, guidance and direction to visitors and patients as needed.
  • Issue courtesy parking discounts and free passes when appropriate.
  • Responsible for following the mandatory reporting procedures for any incident or serious event that did affect or potentially could have affected the clinical care of any patient.
  • Use the personal computer and CRT for dissemination of patient information.
  • Issue patient scooters to patients and visitors as needed.
  • Serve as a reference source regarding visiting hours, directions, package delivery, general admitting and Hospital policies.
  • Respect patient confidentiality and withholds restrictive information.
  • Assist with parking cashier functions and validates patient parking.

Transporter Responsibilities

  • Perform inspections and disinfecting procedures on transportation equipment utilized by the department.
  • Transport patients and adjunct equipment via prescribed vehicles between patient units, treatment centers, and their designated areas in a safe, timely, and accurate manner.
  • Report the status of transportation activities and abnormal activities to the manager in charge.
  • Record transportation data electronically in the Transport Tracking System and/or manually on appropriate forms and logs utilized by the department.
  • Deliver supplies, equipment, and other materials to the patient units, and other designated areas in a safe, timely, and accurate manner.

Food Service Attendant Responsibilities

  • Assembles and serves meals according to diet orders, menus and patient / guest specific requirements.
  • Serves patient meal tray using the designated department script, to include proper patient identification.
  • Adheres to department procedures regarding the operation of all food service equipment.
  • Adheres to hand hygiene and infection control procedures on a consistent basis when interacting with customers.
  • Maintains food safety and quality by applying HACCP principles throughout service.
  • Follow all safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Performs sanitation for assigned work area in accordance with departmental procedures and health department guidelines.
  • HS Diploma/GED preferred
  • Ability to follow written and verbal instructions
