Communicate effectively with payers through various channels, including phone, email, fax, and websites, to resolve outstanding claims promptly.
Update patient and financial information accurately and verify responsible parties for bill payment.
Keep a watchful eye on billing accuracy and promptly address any known errors.
Stay on top of Medicaid/healthy options coupons, ensuring timely and accurate billing for services.
Demonstrate your keen attention to detail by correctly billing all hospital services to primary insurers or patients within expected timeframes.
Proactively follow up with insurance companies on assigned accounts to ensure timely resolution.
Educate patients on hospital payment methods while maintaining an in-depth understanding of insurance regulations and hospital insurance contracts.
Be the detective of the billing world! Identify and report underpayments and denial trends, initiating appeals as needed.
Harness your Excel skills to analyze and resolve payer payment delays, effectively communicating the results.
Exceed daily productivity and quality standards established by the departmental policies.
Embrace professionalism and courtesy when dealing with patients, insurance payors, co-workers, management, and clients.
Enjoy the opportunity to take on exciting special projects as needed by the management team.
Uphold strict confidentiality in all aspects of your role, respecting patients' protected health information (PHI) according to HIPAA standards.
Qualifications
High School Diploma or equivalent.
Medical Billing And Coding Certification Preferred (but Not Required).
Previous experience in Hospital/Facility billing.
2-3 years' experience in insurance collections, with expertise in claim submission and follow-up.
Basic knowledge of healthcare claims processing, including ICD-9/10, CPT and HCPC codes, as well as UB-04.
Thrive in both independent and team-oriented environments.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office, including Excel and Word.
Strong organizational, communication, and written skills.
Basic math and typing skills.
