Position Summary:

Responsible for providing skilled nursing care to the terminally ill patients at Casey House. Responsibilities include assessing the needs of the patient and providing and documenting patient care in a caring and compassionate manner. To provide evidenced based nursing care to provide symptom management and emotional support in an inpatient setting. Exhibits expert end-of-life care and provides supervision to Hospice Aides.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Completes all documentation within agency guidelines and in accordance with agency standards.
• Provides nursing care for hospice patients admitted to Casey House.
• Assesses and implements nursing plans of care for assigned patients.

Minimum Qualifications:

• Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills, and be able to communicate effectively with patients and families under stress.
• Graduation from an accredited nursing program. B.S.N preferred.
• One year of recent clinical nursing experience, preferably with medical-surgical, oncology, critical care or previous experience in a hospice or homecare program.
• Current State of Maryland Nursing License. CHPN preferred.
• Requires strong critical thinking skills and EMR experience.
• Excellent physical assessment, pain assessment and IV skills.
