Nurse Residency for New Graduate RN's (New graduate or 12 months or less experience)
- Upon completion of the program, Nurse Residents will be awarded 36 hours of continuing education credit through the Iowa Board of Nursing
- UnityPoint at Home understands that new nurses need more on-the-job training than experienced nurses. You will have that and more in the UnityPoint at Home Residency Program which has been created to build on the skills you have learned in school and through clinicals while also allowing for an individualized preceptor experience.
- The Nurse Residency Program helps you grow along with other new RNs in your cohort, and meet regularly with experienced mentors, to offer support and socialization into your new role.
- The changing needs of your patients and their conditions mean that you’ll be utilizing a variety of skills. If the patient is new, you’ll begin with assessments and create their care plan. As you progress in our Residency Program, your experience increases and from there you’ll gain autonomy in deciding the best care for each patient.
- The UnityPoint at Home Nurse Residency program has dedicated preceptors who help you smoothly transition from a student nurse to a competent and confident professional RN.

- Effectively delegates tasks and responsibilities to other health care team members and assumes responsibility for follow-up and collaboration.

- Partners with healthcare team to achieve the patient care outcomes and goals of care.
- Assumes responsibility for developing a plan of care that is mutually established with the patient and family. Each patient is treated as an individual, with their identified goals and expectations reviewed each shift to verify priorities.
- Performs admission assessment process per specific department standards to include patient history, physical, and psycho-social assessment. Utilizes physical assessment data, diagnostic data (lab, radiology, diagnostic testing), pharmacological information and patient/family perceptions in formulating nursing diagnosis related to focus problem areas and identifying goals of care.
- Implements the plan of care according to current standards of nursing practice, evidence-based practice, and hospital protocol/procedures.
- Assumes primary responsibility for the plan of care for a patient or group of patients, per unit standards and nursing care required for the specified patient population.
- Graduate of accredited nursing program, BSN perferred
- Possess current RN licensure in the State of Iowa or compact state
