The Role:
MaineGeneral Medical Center is offering a new and exciting position as a Histology Lab Assistant. This is a Monday-Friday schedule, no weekends and no MaineGeneral observed holidays!

Hours are Monday-Friday 6a-2:30p
The Opportunity:
We are a CAP accredited, 24/7 lab that is responsible for over 1 million tests annually for the central Maine Community.

This is a unique position that will offer opportunity to grow within a very busy lab.
The Work:
  • Accessioning of surgical specimens
  • Assist Pathology staff with daily duties
  • Filing/retrieving slides and FFPE blocks from archive
  • Equipment maintenance
  • Prepping gross benches
  • Accessioning of cytology specimens
  • Tissue disposal
  • Slide distribution to Pathologists and Cytologists
  • Processing of pap smears
  • Reagent management
  • Hazardous waste disposal
  • Restocking supplies
You Have:
  • Eager to work in a close-knit team to accomplish tasks
  • Laboratory experience preferred but not required- willing to train the right candidate!
  • Organized with strong attention to detail.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
