BROOKSHIRE-KATY DRAINAGE DISTRICT JOB ANNOUNCEMENT

FLSA Status: Non-ExemptPay: Depending on qualifications and experience.

Position Title:Equipment Operator / Work Crew

Essential Functions:

1. Ability to safely and effectively operate construction/maintenance equipment including tractors, boom mowers, bull dozers, tracked loaders, excavators, pickup trucks, etc.

2. Perform semi-skilled maintenance tasks, flagging traffic, tire repair, etc.

3. Ability to safely operate powered tools including chainsaws, drills, grinders, etc.

4. Ability to perform manual labor tasks including digging, chopping, carrying, etc.

5. Ability to work in all weather conditions, including extreme heat, extreme cold and inclement weather.

6. Must be able to work as a member of a team to safely complete assigned tasks and goals

Position Specifications:

1. Must be legally-authorized to work in the United States of America

2. Graduation from High School or General Education Development (GED) certificate

3. Must have a valid Class C Texas driver’s license with a clean driving record

4. Class A CDL preferred

5. Subject to background check and pre-employment drug test

6. Understand and follow oral instructions

7. Knowledge of the operation and maintenance requirements of power-driven equipment

8. Knowledge of practices, methods, and materials used in construction and maintenance of drainage channels

9. Knowledge of traffic laws, ordinances and rules involved in heavy equipment operations

10. May be required to perform heavy manual labor

11. May be required to be on-call 24 hours a day during severe weather alerts or declared emergencies.

12. May be required to work more than 40 hours a week

13. May be subject to random drug testing as allowed by law

Working Conditions

Working conditions are primarily outdoors, with exposure to all weather conditions; exposure to noise, dust, dirt, grease, oil and fuel; travel on public roads to and from worksite; working in and near water including creeks and ditches; operating tractors, mowing equipment and construction equipment.

Will work as part of a crew or individually under the supervision of the foreman and management of the Brookshire-Katy Drainage District.
