This public health position is compensated with an expected salary of $45,000 - $52,000. WHAT IT'S LIKE TO BE A HEALTHCARE NAVIGATOR AT SINGLE STOP
As a Healthcare Navigator for our human services nonprofit, you have a unique opportunity to provide in-person health insurance enrollment services. You educate potential enrollees about the Marketplace and the types of health insurance programs offered. You complete new and renewal health insurance applications and assist potential enrollees with any grievances or complaints regarding their health coverage or a determination related to their coverage. Each day you get to travel to different Single Stop sites, building strong working relationships and working with site staff to identify uninsured clients. In addition to all these responsibilities, you also participate in training to maintain strong expertise in private and public health insurance eligibility, applications, and enrollment.
You facilitate and evaluate educational workshops related to prescription drug coverage and over-the-counter drug discount programs, health insurance options and enrollment, and the Patients' Bill of Rights and Health Advocacy. Finally, you develop and update an annual multi-pronged outreach plan for promoting insurance literacy. In other words, you're an expert in the field of health insurance, and you feel great using your public health knowledge to help people in need!

What We're Looking For In a Healthcare Navigator
- Bilingual in Spanish and English
- Computer skills
- Flexibility to work from different boroughs daily
- Experience with and commitment to working with low-income families and individuals
- Strong commitment and interest in health reform
- Ability to adjust work schedule and hours on short notice
- Bachelor's degree in social work or a related field OR an associate degree with several years of experience
