Job Summary:


Health & Wellbeing (H&W) is an internal global function within the People & Culture (P&C) entity with some external facing priorities. They are responsible for developing and delivering our H&W agenda for the BP group globally. H&W are the first point of contact for all health & wellbeing related matters; the team are health and wellbeing experts, dedicated to delivering the best health and wellbeing experience for bp employees.


The purpose of the Delivery Excellence Lead is to:


  • Coach the leadership team in delivery excellence and overall programme management
  • Govern the major projects within the team. This includes managing the pipeline, planning and prioritisation activities and ensuring delivery against agreed scope and metrics
  • Performance measure the impact of the outcomes through managing our metrics and the impact we are having across the business


As part of the leadership team, in this role you will support the SVP of Health and Wellbeing by leading the above areas through effective performance measures and driving delivery excellence across all H&W initiatives.


As the successful candidate, you will help drive a culture of data driven decisions, value delivery and customer centric delivery. You will build strong partnerships across P&C (HR) and the wider business.

About the role:


In more detail, some of your key accountabilities will be to:


Governing


  • Manage the risks across the portfolio and formulate mitigation plans
  • Own the annual projects plan and oversee successful delivery
  • Partner with the projects on effective planning and resource allocation
  • Host forums to prioritise activities, facilitate approvals for projects and ensure delivery excellence against agreed metrics
  • Drive a culture of agility and project management effectiveness by providing coaching at all levels in the team
  • Shape and drive delivery of the H&W portfolio roadmap
  • Support relevant internal or external audits as appropriate
  • Assess interdependencies and critical paths, and intervene on projects as necessary
  • Build key relationships across P&C to ensure H&W roadmap is well informed, stay integrated and underpin the people agenda


Coaching


  • Act as an internal consultant to ensure we successfully transition to an agile and data driven project management culture
  • Provide coaching to relevant team members on effective project management, data driven delivery and agile ways of working to ensure effective delivery
  • Mentor key individuals and help build portfolio management capability that is lasting and deep routed


Performing


  • Track the delivery of the H&W performance plan through objective key results (OKR) monitoring
  • Provide accurate reporting and insight on portfolio activity
  • Plan both short and medium term outlooks on resource commitments in order to forecast and build resource plan


About you:


You will have a Degree or professional qualification in a relevant field, or equivalent experience.


It would be essential that you have:


  • Significant experience of an agile framework or method (i.e. Scrum, Kanban), or understanding of software development life cycle models as well as in-depth knowledge of traditional project management principles and practices; ability to exemplify and champion Agile values and principles
  • Significant experience of visualisations tools e.g. Power BI, Excel VBA, PowerPoint etc.
  • Excellent problem solving and business analysis skills
  • Extensive experience spanning HR, H&W
  • Strong team synergy skills and ability to work collaboratively with others whom you have no direct authority over
  • Thought leadership and functional leadership experience including transforming teams and departments
  • Significant experience in use of collaboration tool sets e.g. SharePoint, Teams, G Suite
  • Extensive and proven project delivery experience with complex programmes and projects; adept at working on multiple concurrent projects with nominal supervision and to deliver complex solutions in a corporate environment
  • Strong communication and influencing skills - able to gain acceptance to ideas from senior stakeholders and comfortable in the space of challenge and difficult conversations
  • Extensive experience of programme management and relevant toolsets in both agile and waterfall environments
  • Significant experience of project management toolsets e.g. MS Project, Project Server JIRA, Azure Dev ops
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, with ability to engage, collaborate, co-create with and influence key business stakeholders, and to use a ‘coach approach’ to build trust
  • Monitoring execution performance and being able to take corrective action where needed


It would also be desirable that you have:


  • Experience of succeeding in complex and changing environments, including ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and handle daily planned and unplanned activities
  • Experience working in both consulting and corporate environments
