Health Unit Coordinator - Orthopedics

Perdiem as needed position (10:00 p.m. - 6:30 a.m., weekends every other commitment)

Registers patients upon arrival to the labor and delivery unit for either in-patient or out-patient service, which includes interviewing patient to secure current demographic information and preparing necessary documents. Screens all visitors prior to admittance onto the labor & delivery/postpartum/NICU units. Attends clerical station and performs clerical and reception duties; requisitions and maintains supplies, equipment, and services as directed. With direction from Resource Nurse/Charge Nurse/Assistant Nurse Manager: assigns rooms and/or directs patients to the appropriate area; manages and schedules all labor & delivery cases including inductions and cesarean sections using electronic scheduling system. The position reports to the Nurse Manager.

Required qualifications:

  • California Fire and Life Safety Card - National Organization within 30 days of hire.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Coursework/Training: Completion of Medical Terminology Course.
  • Experience as unit secretary and/or admissions clerk.
