This is a full-time, permanent, classified position which is represented by a union.

The is recruiting for two Health Information Specialists in Salem, Oregon to transcribe dictation received from physicians and nurse practitioners to document patient care and facilitate delivery of health care services to patients as well as to assist with other duties such as release of information.

The Oregon State Hospital provides patient-centered, psychiatric treatment for adults from throughout the state who need hospital-level care. Our primary goal is to help people recover from their illness and return to the community. Our services include psychiatric evaluation, diagnosis, and treatment, as well as community outreach and peer support. Watch “Welcome to the Oregon State Hospital” video

While some aspects of this position may be approved for remote work, all patient contact is required to occur on-site and in person. The ability to work remotely will be periodically assessed based on the needs of the business. Work duties will generally be required to occur during standard office hours, 8:00 AM and 4:30 PM, unless approved by a supervisor.

Minimum Requirements

Health Information Specialist

Two years of experience related to health information.

OR

An associate degree in health information technology from an accredited program.

OR

An equivalent combination of training and experience.
