Job Description
­­­­Job Title And Compensation


The title of this position and the following description correspond to the role of Director of Operations (DO). PolicyBound will also consider candidates with exceptional and extensive experience for the role of Chief Operating Officer (COO).


The base salary range is $130,000 to $150,000. In addition, this position will be eligible for a competitive executive compensation plan which may include equity in the company. Other benefits include a 401K, fully funded healthcare, and dental insurance.


Position Type and Expected Hours of Work:


This is an exempt position.[1]


Summary


The Director of Operations will manage the PolicyBound operations team and report on business objectives and employee performance directly to the CEO. Specifically, the DO will be tasked with creating an evaluation system for PolicyBound's performance in the areas of marketing, sales, and support. The DO will then use this system to provide regular updates to the CEO on company performance. The DO will also manage the company's finances in direct collaboration with the CEO. The DO role will evolve as PolicyBound rapidly scales.


Reporting And Supervisory Responsibilities


The Director of Operations will report directly to the CEO of PolicyBound.


Initially, the DO will serve as the direct manager to the Marketing and Customer Engagement Manager and the Senior Customer Service Representative. These supervisory responsibilities will grow as PolicyBound matures and will be decided upon by the CEO of PolicyBound.

Responsibilities


Management and Reporting


  • Manage the PolicyBound operations team
  • Lead the team in documentation of current process flows across the functional areas of marketing, customer service, and sales
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement by promoting operational excellence, identifying training needs, and implementing development programs
  • Provide guidance, support, and mentorship to ensure effective execution of operational strategies
  • Evaluate and manage the PolicyBound team's productivity and performance
  • Collaborate with external stakeholders including consultants, investors, and industry experts
  • Report on the status of key projects, goals, and/or progress to the CEO of PolicyBound


Operational Implementation and Strategic Oversight


  • Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to track operational performance and provide objective empirical evidence of improvement
  • Develop and execute strategic plans and initiatives to enhance operational efficiency, streamline processes, and drive business growth
  • Ensure that the PolicyBound operations team scales appropriately to meet the needs of the business
  • Oversee budget planning, staffing calculators, and resource allocation to ensure efficient utilization of resources and effective cost management
  • Analyze market trends, industry best practices, and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and operational optimization
  • Evaluate and select external vendors and partners, negotiate contracts, and manage vendor relationships to support operational requirements when necessary

Experience/Qualifications


  • Bachelor's degree (advanced degree preferred)
  • Experience in a leadership role overseeing business operations, preferably in the insurtech or insurance industry
  • Proven track record of scaling innovative operations strategies that have created significant business and customer impact
  • Prior management experience in a growth setting is required
  • Start-up experience preferred


Work Environment


Mostly virtual with occasional in-person commitments. PolicyBound has a strong preference for candidates located in the greater Philadelphia area. Exceptions may be made for exceptional candidates.
