Job Description

Company

Our client is a family-owned business headquartered in the Greater Philadelphia area. They are seeking a Chief Operating Officer to oversee their daily operations and drive their growth strategy. This is a direct-hire and ON-SITE role. Local candidates only; not open to relocation at this time.


The ideal candidate will have a strong background in distribution businesses, transportation management, and supply chain management. The candidate will have proven experience as a COO or Head of Operations, is analytical, process-driven, and is a strong negotiator.


Responsibilities:

  • Manage the company's supply chain, including procurement, inventory management, and logistics.
  • Oversee the day-to-day operations of the company, ensuring that all departments are working together effectively and efficiently.
  • Build and manage a high-performing team of managers and employees, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
  • Develop and implement strategies to improve productivity, quality, and customer satisfaction.
  • Negotiate contracts with suppliers and customers to ensure favorable terms and conditions for the company.
  • Develop and implement operational policies and procedures that align with the company's strategic goals and objectives.
  • Develop and implement strategies to optimize transportation management and ensure timely delivery of products to customers.
  • Establish and maintain relationships with key stakeholders, including suppliers, customers, and business partners.
  • Provide regular reports to the CEO and the board of directors on the company's performance, highlighting areas of strength and weakness and recommending strategies for improvement.


Requirements:

  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma or other process improvement methodologies is a plus.
  • 10+ years of experience in operations management, with a focus on distribution, transportation management, and supply chain management.
  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • Excellent leadership and management skills, with the ability to build and motivate high-performing teams.
  • Strong analytical skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make strategic decisions based on insights.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Proven experience as a Chief Operating Officer or Operations Director with a track record of driving growth and improving operational efficiency.
