Position Overview


The Head of the Offshore Business will oversee Invenergy’s offshore development & execution efforts by developing new business and advancing existing projects. The ideal candidate will have an in-depth knowledge of the offshore wind industry or a combination of knowledge within offshore, energy/utility, and maritime sector(s).


Responsibilities


  • Implement the offshore business plan relative to US projects while following appropriate project deliverables and adhering to the policies and regulations in accordance with BOEM and Invenergy.
  • Collaborate with engineering and sourcing teams to assess, identify, and recommend key technologies and equipment.
  • Present competitive landscape of the industry to guide internal decision making.
  • Collaborate with internal engineering, sourcing, project management, finance, legal and other teams on offshore efforts.
  • Prepare and effectively deliver presentations to the executive team on the status of offshore wind development efforts.
  • Significant domestic and international travel as needed.
  • Represent Invenergy with industry groups, competitors, suppliers, customers, government officials, and other stakeholders specific to the offshore wind industry.
  • Identify, negotiate, and manage partnerships relative to projects or offshore efforts and interface internally with legal, finance and other functions for successful outcomes.
  • Partner with the sourcing team on negotiations to secure the supply of major components to support projects, specifically considering economics, schedule, and risks.
  • Oversee the day-to-day accountabilities for the offshore business including business development, commercial, and project activities.
  • Manage consultants and external parties.
  • Lead and execute a consistent yet ever-changing strategy for the offshore wind business in coordination with senior leadership and the executive team.
  • Collaborate with M&A and finance teams to identify, assess and execute acquisition opportunities for project related assets.
  • Lead and manage the offshore development team which includes individuals with diverse skillsets and expertise.
  • Partner closely with Invenergy’s international development teams on international offshore pursuits.


Minimum Qualifications


  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 10+ years of experience in wind energy, renewable energy, energy/utilities, offshore, oil & gas or maritime industries.
  • Prior experience in a leadership position for development or execution efforts on large-scale infrastructure projects (e.g., power generation, maritime, LNG, Oil or Natural Gas rig development)


Preferred Qualifications
  • Master’s degree in business or engineering
  • 3-5 years overseeing and executing major offshore projects preferred.
  • Critical thinking skills with the ability to identify and solve complex problems.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the desire to work in a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment and ability to meet deadlines and complete time-sensitive duties.
  • Ability to reside in Chicago highly preferred.
  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering preferred with consideration for other degrees in conjunction with industry experience.
  • Ability to use discretion in handling confidential information.
  • In-depth knowledge of the offshore wind sector or US offshore sector preferred.
