Job Description
Who are we hiring?
This role is responsible for the planning, organization and maintenance of all team equipment and apparel, while maintaining a high-level of athlete service within the team’s operations. The Head Equipment Manager oversees team inventory, vendor relationships, purchasing, storage, equipment transportation and maintenance. This role also is responsible for communications with team, business, arena, aviation, and practice facility personnel while scheduling and managing game night staff. It is important for this position to be up to date on current industry trends and products available and ensuring organizational compliance with league rule changes regarding uniforms and equipment. Duties also include (but are not limited to).

What will you do?
  • Attend each game both home and away (travel with team)
  • Oversee team laundry and locker room operations
  • Communicate with NBA opponents to ensure both parties needs are met in accordance with team/NBA best practices
  • Ordering of team and player equipment
  • Responsible for planning and delivery of team equipment for all home games, road games, practices, summer league(s) draft workouts, mini-camps and other team events.
  • Enforce equipment policies and procedures with all team personnel
  • Provide a high level of player service and attention
  • Strong relationships with individual player equipment sponsors
  • Monitor team equipment budget and spending

What do you need to succeed?
  • Excellent communication skills – both written and verbal
  • Capable of working well with others
  • Proficient with all MS Office programs – Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint
  • Ability to maintain confidential information
  • Management experience preferred as this person oversees this department, approximately 8-10 people (game night)
  • Strong knowledge of basketball player needs, basketball equipment and services
  • Extreme organization skills with ability to act under pressure with tight deadlines
  • Excellent attention to detail, planning and collaboration
  • 5+ years’ experience managing the equipment function and working with professional/collegiate/minor league athletes and teams
