Job Description
Description The City of Wheat Ridge's Recreation Center is looking for a person to be a Gym Attendant. This person is responsible for overseeing the gymnasium area during high volume usage. Essential Duties and Responsibilities Essential Duties:The following duties are illustrative only and are not intended to be all inclusive: Assist in enforcing rules and regulations for athletic drop in activities; assist in maintaining the gym in a clean, neat, safe manner. Responsible for explaining policies and procedures to participants including conflict resolution; update all informational items related to gymnasium activities in a timely manner. Responsible for responding and assisting staff members during emergency situations with a sense of urgency; both appropriately, and professionally Work closely with Facility Coordinator and/or Facility Assistant to allow for a coordinated, professionally managed facility. Additional Duties: Responsible for securing substitutes in their absence. Perform related work as required and assigned. Supervision Received: Works under the direct supervision of the assigned Facility Coordinator or assigned Recreation Supervisor Supervision Exercised: None. Independence Of Action: Work is performed in accordance with standard practice and methods requiring initiative to complete recurring assignments independently and judgment to determine which methods are applicable in any given situation. Finished work is reviewed for accuracy, quality, and completeness. Unfamiliar situations are referred to the supervisor. Working Conditions/Physical And Mental Effort: Work is performed indoors and requires the ability to hear, use hands to fingers, speak, intermittent sitting, standing, or walking, working alone, light lifting, pulling, pushing, and carrying up to 50 pounds, reaching, bending/stooping, twisting, squatting. Work requires confidentiality, problem solving, reasoning, constant interruptions, customer contact. Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing, manage multiple concurrent tasks and constant interruptions. Environment involves frequent exposure to dust, heat, cold, and noise with occasional exposure to irritating chemicals, machinery and its moving parts, dirt, wetness and humidity. Equipment Used: Ability to properly operate or use the following equipment is necessary for this position: telephone, copier, personal computer, and other office equipment; various gym equipment including liners, brooms, and volleyball nets Minimum Training and Experience Required to Perform Essential Job Functions Qualifications: Knowledge
  • High School diploma or equivalent. Experience -Experience in customer service, scorekeeping, and athletic programs preferred or Any equivalent combination of training and experience that provides evidence that the applicant possesses the required knowledge, skills and abilities. Supplemental Information Must be a minimum of 18 years of age; American Red Cross or American Heart Association Infant, Child, Adult CPR, AED, and First Aid certifications are required within 45 days of hire at your own expense.
  • Resourceful to identify and use a variety of tools needed for problem solving.
  • Self-motivated and possesses an internal drive to pursue work.
  • Learn how to use a recreation computerized registration program; Establish and maintain effective working relationships; effectively handle emergency situations; follow established guidelines concerning facility operations; make decisions that recognize established procedures and use resourcefulness and tact in applying them.
