Job Description

The Grower Trainee is responsible for developing as a Grower while assisting the Grower Farm Manager with managing the quality and quantity of mushrooms in the farm mushroom houses.

ROLE AND RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Understand disease influences in the houses and take proper actions to curtail impact.
  • Follows all Standard Operating Procedures (SOP's)
  • Keeps a daily report with the Growing Management
  • Assists with continuous improvement approaches to waste and cost reduction, crop improvement, labor efficiency and machine reliability.
  • Assists in the management of the crop throughout the growing cycle.
  • Checks assigned houses and enters data in appropriate charts and programs.
  • Assists in crop data entry and trend monitoring tasks
  • Assists with visual observation of Staff and Contractor performance
  • Keeps up daily records that monitor growing houses as assigned
  • Maintains compliance with all applicable local, state and federal regs.
  • Attends and participates in weekly Growers' meeting, if needed
  • Watch trends in compost quality and ambient weather changes.
  • Evaluate production and quality and adjust growing techniques accordingly.
  • Assists with oversight of employee staff and on-site contracted services.
  • Mushroom growing knowledge preferred, but willing to train.
  • High School or GED required, but bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Private Pesticide License.
