Description of Job
About The Work Unit
The Health Facilities and Emergency Medical Services Division (HFEMSD) is responsible for the oversight and enforcement of a broad range of federal and state statutes and regulations applicable to a wide variety of healthcare facilities and services in Colorado, including hospitals, clinics, ambulatory surgical facilities, renal dialysis centers, emergency medical services providers, designated and non-designated trauma centers, long term care facilities and many other specific types of healthcare services. The division licenses, certifies and surveys healthcare facilities and services; provides patient safety and healthcare quality programs; recognizes emergency medical service (EMS) education programs; certifies EMS providers and licenses air ambulance services operating within the state.
This work unit exists to protect the health, safety, and welfare of patients/residents of health care facilities in the state of Colorado, by evaluating and securing compliance of licensed and certified facilities and providers, utilizing applicable federal and state laws/regulations and professional standards of practice and to provide to the public information on health care facilities.
The EMTS Branch is organized into four primary sections: the EMS Operations Section (EMS provider education, certification, air ambulance, Emergency Medical Practice Advisory Council, etc.); the Trauma Section (trauma center designation); the Funding Section (EMTS grants program management and distribution, Regional Emergency Medical and Trauma Advisory Councils, State Emergency Medical and Trauma Services Advisory Council); and the Data Section (data collection, analysis and usage). Additionally, there is an enforcement unit in the branch to support EMTS regulatory activities.
Position Summary
This position works in the Trauma Section within the EMTS Branch. Trauma staff members are responsible for the development and implementation of rules and regulations governing the designation of trauma centers, providing professional consulting to these centers in terms of assessing compliance with rule and with quality improvement standards and providing guidance and leadership to the statewide EMTS system to ensure a cohesive system of care specifically directed at the injured patient. Staff members in the work unit provide professional assistance and oversight primarily to hospitals and community clinics, but also to EMS transport agencies, with the goal of providing long-term support and stability to ensure the continued provision of patient care and transportation in all parts of Colorado. The trauma section is responsible for the triennial review and site visit process required by rule of each of the 87 designated trauma centers across Colorado. The trauma section works closely with local officials, regional councils, the STAC and the SEMTAC in developing rules, policies and procedures that govern the care of injured patients pursuant to current statutory authority.
The position will design and implement processes used for administrative operations. This position will be responsible for numerous tasks that involve decision making and prioritizing of workflow and will assist in staffing various committees and task forces and draft minutes for such meetings and establish and maintain complex filing systems without requiring prior approval of management.
Minimum Qualifications

Three (3) years of administrative or secretarial experience that included responsibility for planning, scheduling and organizing meetings ( e.g. correspondence, reservations, recording and transcribing minutes) and providing information both verbally and in written form.
