Job Description

Pay Grade/Pay Range: $15

Department/Organization: 504103 - Grounds

Normal Work Schedule: 6:00 a.m.- 2:30 p.m.

Job Summary: The Groundskeeper provides basic labor for landscape and flower installation and maintenance; performs related work as required. Most work is done outdoors in all types of weather. This is the entry level position to the Groundskeeper Career Ladder. The Groundskeeper will be required to drive UA vehicles such as trucks, golf carts, mowers and tractors.

Required Minimum Qualifications: Ability to read, write and follow oral and written instructions. Ability to operate tools, equipment and machinery used in groundskeeping operations. Must be able to lift, handle and maneuver the tools, materials and supplies of the job.

Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must be able to work overtime, sometimes on short notice. This position will often require long days, on your feet, standing, walking, lifting, and carrying. Over 8-hour days may be required based on the condition of the grounds and campus event schedules. This position will be required to work during all climates of weather, hot, cold rain, etc., depending on season. Works at a series of assigned locations on job related activities. Must meet regular attendance requirements. Must accomplish the essential functions, with or without reasonable accommodations, in a timely manner. Closely observes and adheres to all safety rules and regulations as listed on product and equipment labels and as directed by management. Leaves work site clean and orderly; ensures that all tools and equipment are cleaned, and materials are secured. Performs other job-related duties as assigned. Must have a valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with university policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.
