Job Description
JOB SPECIFICS

The Graphic Designer Intern is responsible for assisting in the design of print and digital materials. The intern will be working on various communication projects with an emphasis on graphic design. This internship is designed to help students learn how to use their creative skills while developing new ideas that will enhance brand awareness.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Adhere to brand guidelines and complete projects according to deadline
  • Competency in Illustrator
  • Create and design print and digital materials using InDesign
  • Collaborate with the Senior Graphic Designer and Communications Team to develop design concepts
  • Retouch and manipulate images in Photoshop

Anticipated Hiring Rate:$16.00 - $18.00 Hourly
Hours/Days: Part time, flexible schedule during business hours of 8:00am-4:30pm, Monday through Friday.

JOB SUMMARY

The Graphic Designer Intern is responsible for assisting in the design of print and digital materials. The intern will be working on various communication projects with an emphasis on graphic design. This internship is designed to help students learn how to use their creative skills while developing new ideas that will enhance brand awareness.

EMPLOYMENT CRITERIA

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Interns must be a Junior, Senior, or Graduate student enrolled in an accredited institution and majoring in a related field. Working knowledge of Adobe Creative Suite including InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator. Interns may arrange the internship through the education institution on a for-credit basis. Interns must be available for a pre-determined minimum of hours per week June- September.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: Experience editing and finishing film product using high performance video editing and storage systems.

Offers of employment will be contingent upon successfully passing a criminal history background check prior to beginning employment with Washington County.

  • Basic knowledge of layouts, typography, line composition, color, and other graphic design fundamentals
  • Experience with InDesign, Creative Suite and Microsoft Office

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Use graphic design software and work with a wide variety of media
  • Retouch and manipulate images
  • Create and design print and digital materials
  • Receive feedback from the Senior Graphic Designer and Communications Team and make necessary changes
  • May perform other duties as assigned.
  • Collaborate with the Senior Graphic Designer and Communications Team to develop design concepts
  • Adhere to brand guidelines and complete projects according to deadline
  • Ability to problem solve and work independently or as part of a team

1-8 are considered essential duties.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work will involve remaining in a stationary position for extended periods of time, although the incumbent will need to move about inside the office to access files or equipment from time to time, and may occasionally need to travel to other sites to perform work or interact with other professionals. The ability to operate and interact with computers or other office equipment, via keyboard, mouse, touch screen, or other Human Interface Device (HID) is required. The incumbent will be exposed to noise and a regular flow of people around an office environment, assigned to changing priorities and occasionally required to work outside of typical business hours to meet project deadlines, or be available on an on-call basis for special projects or to provide support. Additional physical/mental requirements that occur may not be listed above, but are inherent in performing the position's essential functions.
