Graphic Design Internship


Start Date Tentative Start Date of June 6, 2023


Duration Approximately 2-3 months


Expected Work Week Up to 32 hours a week, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Monday – Thursday

Expected to work In Office Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday

Potential to work from home on Thursdays

Compensation Gross Hourly Wage of $17-23 an hour, paid weekly.

Needed to Apply Resume and Portfolio of Original Works

Two or Three References (Can be professors, mentors, or previous employers within the last 3 years. No family members or friends.)

Recent graduate or senior year student enrolled in graphic design (or similar field) courses preferred, but not required.


Works With Creative Services Manager, The Brand Development Team, Department Project Management Leaders, Cross-Functional HGI Department Leaders.


Internship Summary/Objective

As the Graphic Design Intern on Mellow Mushroom’s Creative Services team, you will report directly to the Creative Services Manager within Mellow Mushroom’s Brand Development department to support internal and external design needs. These needs will include, but are not limited to, assisting with the creation of campaign assets such as in-restaurant advertising materials, local store graphic requests, social media graphics and email graphics, designing training materials, building PowerPoint decks, photography editing and color correction, and assisting with administrative tasks.

The Mellow Mushroom Creative Services team is made up of passionate and driven individuals who support the needs of all internal departments. The right candidate will be creative, hard-working and personable, willing to jump in to assist with their set of skills and experience, as well as willing to learn new processes and techniques.


Essential Functions

· Work directly with the Manager of Creative Services to assist with internal graphic design needs. (ex: Training Materials, PowerPoint Projects.)

· Support Creative Service with program administrative needs, including the Staff Uniform Program.

· Assist in maintaining digital assets such as creating and maintaining the online photo library and naming conventions.

· Work directly with the Manager of Creative Services to assist with campaign work (ex: In-restaurant materials, digital assets, print assets)

· Keep management informed of the progress of all projects, especially if scheduled completion dates may not be able to be met.

· Strive to meet company quality standards while working on projects and following company guidelines.

· Be cognizant of time management in regard to the completion of projects/assignments.

· Support project managers with any miscellaneous jobs and tasks that may arise while managing assigned deliverables.



Competencies

● Exceptional creativity and innovative design skills

● Experience with design software, including Illustrator, InDesign, Photoshop, After-Effects

● Experience with Microsoft Office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint

● Proven experience with graphic design, with a strong portfolio of work

● Excellent communication and presentation skills

● Be able to work productively and contribute ideas in a team-orientated environment

● Be able to deal with constructive feedback from the Creative Services Manager and project managers who are invested in the intern’s success and willingness to learn

● Have exceptional organizational and time-management skills in order to meet deadlines in this fast-paced work environment

● Preferred enrollment or recent graduation from graphic design course (or a similar field)


Supervisory Responsibility

This position has no supervisory responsibility.


Work Environment

This position operates in a professional office environment and routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines.


Physical Demands

· While performing the duties of this job, the intern is regularly required to talk or hear. The intern is frequently required to stand, sit, walk, use hands to finger, handle or feel; use keyboard and computer screen and reach with hands and arms.

· Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, ability to adjust focus, and ability to focus at night.

· Occasional travel may be required through driving of a personal or rented vehicle or flying in an airplane to company meetings, events or restaurants.


Travel

Up to 10-15% travel may be expected.
