Job Description

The Office for Global Engagement currently provides value-added services coordinating, managing, and marketing international initiatives across the UU campus. In support of those activities, and with the intention of expanding our ability to engage in international education work, we are proposing adding a Grant Writer & Administrator to the OGE team. This person would be responsible for developing expertise on the international funding landscape, identifying opportunities and helping to match those opportunities to needs 1) within the OGE offices and 2) in coordination with interested faculty.
We propose that the Grant Writer & Administrator role be created with an initial 3 year appointment with the possibility of renewal. This person would report directly to the Executive Director, Global Program Development, but would coordinate all opportunities with the relevant entities both within and outside of the OGE offices.

Responsibilities
The Grant Writer & Administrator within OGE would have the following responsibilities:
  • Identify potential partners for grant implementation and conduct the full range of activities required to prepare, submit, and manage grant proposals to government, foundation and corporate sources. develop competitive, well-written grant.
  • Provide grant-writing support for select grants that involve faculty and departments outside of OGE.
  • Perform prospect research on all funding sources to evaluate prospects for obtaining grants and other support including research grants for applicable international education opportunities through all relevant sources including USAID, US State Department, 100,000 Strong in the Americas.
  • Create a quarterly calendar of upcoming relevant grant opportunities.
  • Assist with other fundraising projects as requested.
  • Track statistics relevant to development and provide department with written materials necessary for donor stewardship (visitor number and diversity, educational program attendance, etc.).
  • Provide support for mid- and post-grant awards.
  • Work with staff and faculty to regularly submit grant proposals specific to funding for OGE/ISSS/LA initiatives.
  • Meet with OGE/ISSS/LA leadership to update on opportunities and needs.
  • Provide stewardship to current donors, including cooperating with all relevant university offices to provide regular written updates (newsletters etc.) to donors.
  • Outreach to colleagues across campus and in peer institutions for best practices and approaches for specific funders (e.g., Bill and Melinda Gates, USAID, etc.).
  • Develop expertise and database on faculty interests around specific funding initiatives.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Work with other university offices to gather and provide information necessary to report to government/corporate/foundation funders on current grant programs.
