Serve as a key member of a project team, providing engineering support for the planning, design, construction, and commissioning of gathering and transmission pipelines and associated facilities including pump stations; compressor stations; meter and regulator facilities; truck and rail loading / unloading facilities; and bulk storage terminals across the United States. Must have a basic knowledge of fundamental engineering principles, including but not limited to fluid dynamics; thermodynamic application; energy, mass and material balances; and material sciences. Provides technical support for the engineering process, performing simple and routine engineering design tasks and standard design calculations. Assists more senior engineers and CAD Designers in the preparation of design and construction drawings, and providing general procurement support for projects including, but not limited to, assisting with the preparation of engineering specifications, technical datasheet and RFQ / RFP packages, along with general procurement tracking and expediting activities. Works on projects, or tasks, with limited complexity in a support role under the guidance, direction, and oversight of a senior level engineer or project manager. Work is closely managed. Is self-motivated and capable of working in a group environment, with a dedication to ethics, safety, and quality.


Primary Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Preparing equipment and material specifications and technical data sheets, developing Request for Quotation packages and addressing vendor clarification requests, evaluating vendor proposals, and assisting with the selection of equipment and materials that meets the project design requirements;
  • Performing detailed design calculations including compressible and non-compressible fluid hydraulics, line sizing, material grade and wall thickness, Maximum Allowable Operating Pressure (“MAOP”) and other calculations as may be assigned to you;
  • Sizing pumps, compressors, control valves, relief valves, meters, regulators, and other applicable pipeline and pipeline facility equipment, as required;
  • Preparing and maintaining applicable project deliverable lists including, but not limited to, equipment lists, line lists, tie-point lists, valve lists, instrument lists, etc.;
  • Assisting with the preparation of project capital cost estimates, including soliciting budgetary equipment and material pricing, construction costs and other third party expenses;
  • Working with other Senior level engineers and CAD designers to develop the production of design and construction drawings such as PFD’s/P&IDs, piping and isometric drawings, civil/structural drawings, pipeline crossing drawings and alignment sheets;
  • Conducting field reviews of existing facilities to prepare as-built documentation and greenfield sites to gather design information, as necessary;
  • Working in a project team to develop project scopes of work and engineering design basis documentation;


Qualifications:


The ideal candidate will possess the following:
  • Ability to work with multidisciplinary teams with diverse backgrounds, while maintaining effective working relationships;
  • Analytical and problem solving capabilities;
  • Strong oral and written communication skills;
  • I.T. / FE Certification preferred, but not required;
  • A collaborative demeanor with the ability to work through conflict, differing perspectives and opinions, and communicate across differing backgrounds and departments;
  • Good comprehension of mapping software (Google Earth®)
  • S. Degree in Civil / Structural, Mechanical, or Chemical Engineering;
  • 0-2 years’ experience in the oil and gas pipeline, or comparable, industry;
  • Have Strong PC skills:
  • Strong interpersonal skills;
  • MS Office - Word, Excel, and PowerPoint required


Reasoning Ability:


Ability to define routine problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions to solve routine problems and/or deal with a variety of variables in situations. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.


Physical Demands:


The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the duties of this position, the employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk, talk and listen both in an office environment as well as remote project sites. This position requires frequent and extended periods of time working on computers and occasionally driving to/from project sites and off-site meetings. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision in order to accurately input data and proofread documents and drawings; distance vision in order to safely and accurately gather information at project sites.
