OVERVIEW:

The General Sales Manager is responsible for achieving Company objectives in sales performance, profit contribution, and profit and loss controls by overseeing the operational aspects of the store, along with managing the sales effort of the total store.

  • Meets and exceeds P&L objectives including sales, margin, inventory, shrinkage, payroll and other controllable expenses, such as supplies and operating costs within assigned areas.
  • Upholds Company standards for merchandise presentation.
  • Drives sales by analyzing daily/weekly/monthly reports.
  • Ensures compliance with all Company guidelines involved with safety, loss prevention, and cash handling procedures.
  • Approves schedules and monitors payroll daily to ensure that the payroll plan is met.
  • Monitors the sales, customer service and operational efforts of all managers, sales leads and associates.
  • Ensures accuracy and timeline completion of price changes and price identification in the overall building is maintained by ensuring that sales managers have current signage, pricing, and in-store promotional information.
  • Issues appropriate counseling and disciplinary action to those associates who fail to meet or achieve Company policies, procedures and performance standards.
  • Prepares and delivers performance appraisals for hourly and salaried associates.
  • Ensures the efficient day-to-day operation of the store through participation in the Manager On Duty Program (MOD), cash office procedures and other management functions.
  • Complies with all federal, state and local regulations regarding store operations and personnel management.
  • Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary Company information.
  • Shops and understands the competition from a product, pricing and service standpoint.
  • Effectively uses all Company-provided educational and customer service tools to train and coach associates to comply with policies, procedures and standards.
  • Responsible for the recruiting, interviewing and hiring process for hourly and salaried associates.
  • Any other essential function that may occur from time to time.
  • Is WISE certified, actively promotes and exhibits expertise in WISE selling techniques and manages WISE mentoring initiatives and programs.
