Job Summary

Under the general supervision of the Manager of (BBS) Beach Building Services Information Technology, the GIS & CAD Coordinator is responsible for managing and organizing all project as-builts, operations and maintenance manuals and files for BBS (facilities management, design and construction, planning and sustainability). The incumbent will establish and manage document control standards and update the campus-wide GIS utility database, topography, geotechnical, georeferencing, ADA Masterplan databases and provide support the trees database all created in ArcGIS Pro and ArcGIS Online. This position will also be involved in updating and supporting the ISES Intelligent Systems and Engineering Services facilities condition assessment database.

Key Responsibilities

  • Archiving and Record-keeping. Establish and supervise the maintenance of a comprehensive filing system for all project files within Design and Construction Services including Campus As-Builts, Operation and Maintenance Files, and Record Documents, ISES, GIS, Geotechnical report databases, Campuswide Topography, and ADA Masterplan. This also includes maintaining data base for all warranties campus-wide and working with Facilities Project Services and Facilities Management to include any self-performed projects for a comprehensive archiving system. Develop, maintain, and manage comprehensive building information database and maps in ArcGIS for analysis. In addition, position is responsible for organizing, training, consulting distributing and communicating effectively technical mapping data and information to CSULB staff and consultants.
  • Work with Facilities Management, Facility Project Services, and internal design team to create a data base of drawing details and management for typical usage for self-performed projects. Assist design team, Facilities Project Services, and Facilities Management with any design document creation as needed. GPS utilities on site using tools like the Arrow Gold GNSS GPS unit. Assist with the development of the tree database that is currently managed in ArcGIS.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities

  • Demonstrated ability and experience with GIS (Geographic Information System) databases.
  • Hands on experience and demonstrated strong proficiency using current version of Excel, Bluebeam, AutoCAD, Revit, Access, ArcGIS (ArcGIS Pro, ArcGIS Online, Urban, Hub, Dashboards, Field Maps, Indoors, etc.)
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Ability to gather information from field notes.
  • Effective written, oral and interpersonal communication skills, and the ability to make clear and concise oral and written reports and presentations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with staff, faculty, students and others.
  • Ability to create and upkeep the CAD and GIS Design Standards

Education and Experience

Equivalent to a bachelor's degree in a related field and three years of related experience required.

Employees who are required to operate motorized vehicles and/or use their personal vehicle more than once a month on university business are required to take a mandatory Defensive Driving course and enroll in the DMV Employee Pull Notice (EPN) Program.

Preferred experience:

A Bachelor of Arts or Bachelor of Science in a technical background where GIS, CAD, Excel and data analysis have been part of the curriculum preferred. 2 years preferred; comparable experience will be considered. Experience must include the self-generated creation of Site Plans, Floor Plans, Construction Detail and other documents that are necessary to document design intent.

Experience with data base management preferred GPS units with evidence of computerized document management experience.

Experience with working within a facilities management and construction setting preferred.

Experience working in a university or large institutional setting preferred.

Physical Summary

Light work - Job involves some lifting of medium weight objects (10-20 pounds) and/or 10% - 20% of the job involves standing or walking.

Compensation

Salary placement is determined by the education, experience, and qualifications the candidate brings to the position, internal equity, and the hiring department’s fiscal resources.

CSU Classification Salary Range: $4,170 - $7,545 per month.

Time Base

1.0 time-base, 40 hours per week.

Duration of Appointment
