Description

This position will be based in one of the following locations: Morenci (AZ), Safford (AZ), Bagdad (AZ), Sierrita (AZ), Tucson (AZ), Tyrone (NM), and Chino (NM). Travel may be required depending on location.


Under general supervision, complete logging of drill samples, complete resource block models, conduct geologic mapping, provide technical expertise, guidance and leadership in geological exploration and resource modeling.

  • Work with Metallurgists to provide samples for processing testing and evaluation and in the development of ore types
  • Provide guidance and counsel to the site management team on applicable programs, practices and existing/proposed local, state and federal regulations
  • Assist in the development of drilling programs, formulation of short-range plans and budget preparation for geological exploration and evaluation at assigned site
  • Maintain current working knowledge of applicable Federal, State and local regulations
  • Supervise and direct drilling, road construction and drill sample preparation contractors
  • Perform logging of core and reverse circulation drill cuttings
  • Integrate and interpret all geological data (e.g, rock type, alteration, structure), assay, and mineralogical data into geologic maps and internally consistent cross sections and level plans
  • Work with a team of Geologists in the completion of computerized resource block models that meet corporate modeling standards
  • Perform other duties as required
  • Prepare and update drill hole database, maps of deposits and other exploration records
  • Perform geologic mapping of surface and underground areas

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • Master's degree in Geology and one (1) year of experience in Geology or related scientific field
  • Bachelor's degree in Geology or related scientific discipline and three (3) years of experience in Geology or related scientific field, OR

Criteria/Conditions

  • Personal protective equipment is required when performing work in a mine, outdoor, or manufacturing plant environment, including hard hat, hearing protection, safety glasses, safety footwear, and as needed, respirator, rubber steel-toe boots, protective clothing, gloves and any other protective equipment as required
  • Work periodically may be in remote field conditions with a wide range of physical conditions and requiring interaction with diverse cultures and societies
  • Occasionally may be required to lift moderately heavy objects (up to 60 pounds) during the course of the workday
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, sit, demonstrate manual dexterity, climb stairs and ladders, work on elevated platforms, talk, hear and see
  • Ability to communicate in English with respect to job assignments, job procedures, and applicable safety standards

  • Work is in a mine or manufacturing plant setting, which may include exposure to extremes in temperature and humidity, moving mechanical parts, risk of electrical shock, toxic chemicals, explosives, fumes or airborne particles

  • Must be able to work in a potentially stressful environment

Compensation:

The estimated annual pay range for this role is currently $84,000-$116,000 annually. This range reflects base salary only and does not include bonus payments, benefits or retirement contributions. Actual base pay is determined by experience, qualifications, skills and other job-related factors. This role is eligible for additional discretionary and incentive payment considerations based on company and individual performance. More details will be shared during the hiring process.
