We are looking for a General Merchandise Manager who can direct and manage Buyers activities across multiple merchandise departments.
What's unique about this job (What you’ll do)
- Identify, Develop and Direct merchandise opportunities in conjunction with Buyers for Departments of Responsibility.
- Establish, oversee and direct product specifications, quality and inspection protocol to company standards.
- Identify and provide assistance for current and potential new club pack items.
- Perform regular quarterly review of current merchandise mix sales and suggested program enhancements.
Principal responsibilities:
People
- Ensure timely / accurate performance evaluations.
- Manage / Teach and Develop Buyers / Assistant Buyers and related reporting staff.
- Ensure adherence to the Company Operating Policies and Procedures.
- Develop / Foster Professional and Effective Communications w / Buying, Operations and Suppliers.
Merchandise:
- Proactively management of merchandise selection, sku counts to ensure maximum sales by item, productivity, space allocation and holding power within the confines of the available merchandise space.
- Drive Sales by maintaining proper in-stock levels through timely and accurate sales and raw material needs forecasting, and merchandise ordering coordinated w / suppliers.
- Ensure merchandise selection is in accordance w / the 6 Rights of Merchandising Philosophy.
- Coordinate w / Buying VP and Regional / Local VP’s and Buyers for overall sku mix.
- Approval of new item BUYDOCS as directed by Buying VP.
- Develop and maintain a proactive and successful relationship w / the vendor / supplier base.
Financial:
- Coordinate development of annual KPI budgets and monthly actual results for Sales, Margin and Inventory attainment for areas of responsibility.
- Coordinating and manage annual compensation and monthly total expense results w / Buying VP.
- Approve purchase orders within established guidelines.
- Weekly review of competitive shop data and buyer actions to ensure price leadership.
Facility:
- Work w / Buying VP to visit / certified suppliers for sanitation and the wholesomeness of merchandising purchased.
- Work w / suppliers to ensure efficient receiving and handling of merchandise at the club level.
Bring your passion and expertise (Who you are)
- Experience for a minimum of 1 year as a business analyst in a manufacturing or production environment with SAP as the ERP Software System.
- Bi-lingual, English and Spanish.
- Ability to prioritize as well as work under deadlines.
- Excellent technical knowledge and hands on experience with SAP.
- College educated with an emphasis on Accounting, Economics or Business Administration
- Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work across functions with the organization. Operationally oriented, someone who doesn’t hesitate to visit the manufacturing facilities to understand each process and the financial implications.
- JDE experience helpful, but not required.
