General Manager - Headquarters Gym

Title: Headquarters Gym Manager

Summary: Rock Steady Boxing Headquarters gym is seeking a gym manager to run day-to-day operations at our training and education gym which is located on the northeast side of Indianapolis. This Gym manager position will work alongside our Coaching manager who’s responsible for our 12-person coaching team. The Gym manager will oversee facilities, fiscal management, and all current gym programming (including 20+ RSB classes per week, Speech therapy, support groups, etc.). The Gym manager will also be tasked with growing programming specific to the Parkinson’s community (other exercise classes, other therapy providers, etc.).

Responsibilities:

Administration/Organization

• Evaluate the need for and develop appropriate policy and procedures for the HQ gym.
• Collaborate with RSB HQ Organizational staff to lead events at HQ gym including training, fundraising, marketing events.
• Develop and maintain relationships and collaborations with local Parkinson disease service and exercise organizations.
• Directly supervise all front office customer service personnel.
• Collaborate on recruitment and hiring of HQ gym coaches and staff.
• In collaboration with the Coaching manager, manage the weekly schedule of events and classes at the HQ gym.

Program Management

• Be available to teach 1-3 RSB classes per week.
• Serves as the point person for scheduling and receiving visiting Affiliate coaches at the Facility.
• Work with complimentary PD-based exercise offering at RSB HQ to diversify our exercise class offerings while maintaining a central focus of Rock Steady Boxing.
• Build collaborations with clinicians (PT, OT, Speech, Counseling, Social Work, etc.) to develop RSB HQ as a recognized center of service excellence for the Parkinson’s community.
• Assess current programing and class schedule and refine to maximize gym space usage.

Financial Management

• Establish controls of expenses and purchasing of facility supplies.
• Collaborate with HQ staff on fundraising and grant writing for the local HQ gym.
• Ensure overall operational and fiscal success of the HQ gym.
• Exhibit an understanding of budgets and income statements.

Facilities Management

• Ensures that the facility provides accessibility for people with Parkinson’s disease and is compliant with federal and state laws and regulations including: Occupational Safety and Health Act, and Americans with Disabilities and its Amendments (ADAAA).
• Keep current in knowledge of best practices for fitness facility operations, health, and safety.
• Ensure that the facility meets the highest standards for cleanliness, maintenance, safety, security, and physical operations.

Qualifications:

Required:

• Computer/Technology proficiency, especially conducting virtual meetings/workouts, Outlook, Word, and Excel
• Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, physical education, recreation or fitness management, business, or related field.
• 3+ years previous experience in fitness management OR 2 years of proven successful experience in program development and supervision
• A record of exercise program development, implementation, and growth within a fitness facility
• CPR/AED Certification

Preferred

• NCCA certification as a fitness professional
• Understanding of Parkinson disease and wellness/fitness related to management of PD
• Certification as a RSB Head Coach
• History or knowledge of RSB programs

Benefits:

• Salary range for this position is $50,000-$55,000
• This position is full-time, benefited position at RSB headquarters is in Indianapolis, IN.
