Job Description
Position: General Manager aka “Captain”
Reports to: Regional Vice President Operations
Working Location: The MOXY, St Petersburg FL
Position Summary:
The General Manager (aka Captain) will open and oversee the new MOXY hotel located in the EDGE District of St. Petersburg, Florida. This hotel will include 163 rooms as well as a dining and rooftop bar outlets. The ideal captain will have several years of experience leading high-performing teams as a general manager of a boutique hotel and opening hotels, as well as a track record of GSS excellence. The captain’s primary duty is to ensure a financially successful, well-run hotel that provides memorable guest experiences aligned with the MOXY Brand Essence of “Now & Wow,” a unique blend of thoughtfulness, spirited fun, and distinctive design.
Core Responsibilities:
Leadership and Team Development:
  • Lead by example and create a positive and inclusive work environment.
  • Recruit, develop, and retain high-performing teams across the hotel.
  • Provide coaching and feedback to team members to optimize their performance.
  • Foster a culture of lateral service, collaboration, innovation, and continuous improvement.
Food and Beverage:
  • Collaborate with the culinary and beverage teams to develop and execute creative menus, promotions, and events, with a particular focus on the dominant rooftop dining and bar experience.
  • Create innovative concepts and activations that elevate the guest experience and drive revenue.
Guest Experience:
  • Provide superior results for GSS, ESS and Quality Assurance audit within top 10% of Brand.
  • Infuse the MOXY ethos and personalized experiences throughout all operations, from guest services to amenities, to create a memorable and unparalleled stay for guests.
Sales & Revenue Management:
  • Identify new business opportunities and develop strategic partnerships to drive revenue growth.
  • Develop and implement marketing and sales initiatives to attract new customers and retain existing ones.
  • Partner closely with sales teams to drive Sales and Revenue Management results.
  • Attend industry events and network with key stakeholders to promote the hotel and increase market share.
Financial Management:
  • Implement cost control measures and revenue enhancement strategies to maximize profitability.
  • Review financial reports regularly and take appropriate actions to optimize financial performance.
  • Develop and implement annual budgets and financial plans to achieve revenue, expense, and profit targets.
Education/Experience:
  • End-to-end experience developing and executing innovative food and beverage activations. A focus on rooftop and Day-to-Night-Life dining and bar experiences strongly preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management or related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience as a General Manager in a boutique lifestyle hotel or equivalent full service property. Marriott experience preferred, but not essential.
ADA Work Environment:
  • Lifting, pushing pulling up to 25 pounds.
  • Use of applicable safety equipment as necessary.
  • Occasional exposure to loud noises and extreme temperatures.
  • Extended time standing.
  • Interior and exterior responsibilities.
