We have immediate openings for General Laborer's in Washburn, IL.

Successful candidates will possess existing experience as a Laborer in some form of outdoor construction or utility work, with experience working in underground or Aerial work. We are happy to consider those with experience in other underground utility work such as gas, cable, phone, telecom, water & sewer, etc. Preference may also be given to candidates who are able to bring along additional qualified candidates to form entire work crews.

Responsibilities

• Work with specialized equipment including jackhammers, upright compactors, air compressors, fiber pullers, and other necessary tools.
• Complete duties as assigned
• Setting conduit, and any communication ped, vault, or hand hole.
• Spotting operators
• Assist equipment operators, hand digging, locating underground obstructions as needed.
• Flagging
• Clean and prepare construction sites to eliminate possible hazards.
• Potholing for existing utilities.
• Work safely around backhoes, excavators, trenchers, directional drills and company vehicles.
• Compacting trenches.

Requirements

• Comply with drug / alcohol free policy.
• Hard working with strong work ethic.
• Ability to lift up to 80 lbs. multiple times during a work shift.
• Ability to climb, dig, work in tight spaces, on uneven surfaces, walking, stooping and kneeling.
• Display endurance, the ability to work in all weather conditions.
• Ability to obtain a DOT medical card.
• Roadside construction experience a plus.
• Ability to perform heavy manual labor for extended periods, often under adverse climatic conditions.
• Ability to understand and follow specific oral and written instructions.
• Ability to perform simple math and comprehend onsite staking Lot/Block, Cut/Fills.
• Able to complete jobs safely and timely.
• Able to meet attendance & punctuality requirements.
• Ability to pass motor vehicle, criminal background check, and comply with drug-free workplace policy.
• Willingness and ability to learn additional skills.
• Ability to work well independently and as a part of a team with co-workers.
