Job Summary


This position reports to the Manager Gas Supply & Regulatory Analysis within the Basic Gas Supply Service (BGSS) group of PSEG Energy Resources & Trade LLC. The successful candidate will contribute regulatory and analytical support to BGSS as well as to the regulated utility PSE&G through (a) the formulation and advocacy of positions in Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (Ferc) proceedings, (b) the analysis and development of recommendations regarding the portfolio of interstate gas pipeline transportation and storage agreements, and (c) additional analysis supporting the BGSS program at the state level, as needed.


Job Responsibilities


  • Study both existing and potential new pipeline agreements to develop a strategy to maximize their value.
  • Monitor, analyze and support development of the BGSS natural gas transportation and storage contract portfolio to optimize value, minimize cost, and enhance BGSS earnings.
  • Support various activities of the BGSS group in Ferc-related matters, including analysis of interstate pipeline filings and rate cases and the development of recommended courses of action.
  • Analyze Ferc orders, rulemakings, and policy changes to assess the impact on the BGSS business.
  • In collaboration with attorneys and other subject matter experts, formulate and persuasively advocate favorable regulatory positions in Ferc proceedings involving rate, operational, and infrastructure matters.
  • Advocate Company positions in industry trade groups, as well as in generic rulemakings before the Ferc.
  • Track interstate pipeline rates and tariff changes, update key internal stakeholders as necessary
  • Conduct ad-hoc analyses on an as-needed basis to support BGSS activities


Job Specific Qualifications


  • In lieu of degree, 8 years experience in any of the same disciplines
  • Bachelor's Degree in Finance, Engineering, Science, Business, Economics, Accounting,or related field with minimum of four years' experience as an analyst (preferably in a regulatory or energy environment)

  • General understanding of the natural gas business as it affects both interstate gas pipelines and local gas distribution companies
  • Master's degree
  • Familiarity with natural gas pipeline tariffs, contracts, and rates.
