Seeking to hire a licensed funeral director or apprentice for employment at an independently owned funeral home in central Maine. Duties would include transportation of remains, embalming, dressing, casketing, cremation preparation, applying cosmetics, making funeral arrangements, making pre-arrangements, directing and working visitations, funerals, graveside services, taking on call responsibilities via rotating schedule, completing necessary paperwork, preparing chapel for visitations and services, running funeral home related errands, and completing small projects when there is down time. We have a team approach with light duty maintenance i.e. clearing snow, vacuuming, leaf blowing, and cleaning company vehicles. Company is willing to train apprentice applicants.
Applicants must possess strong communication and interpersonal skills with attention to detail. Good personal hygiene with clean appearance and calm demeanor are necessary. A strong work ethic with ability to operate in a team environment is a must along with desire to provide exceptional service to the families we serve.

Proudly serving all faiths, the Augusta area has a strong Catholic and Franco-American population. Our call volume has remained consistent over the last 10 years and has seen significant growth within the last couple of years. A second, brand-new location in Windsor was added in 2003. The living quarters in Windsor is currently occupied by the owner, living quarters in Augusta is currently vacant with opportunity for future occupancy by employee. Formally owned by the Plummer and Murphy families, Plummer Funeral Home was sold to Emily Dumond in September of 2022 and remains an independently owned funeral home.
