Job Details

Responsibilities


  • Communicate effectively with parents, guardians, and caregivers to provide updates on student progress and involve them in the educational process.
  • Develop and implement individualized education plans (IEPs) for students with special needs, focusing on academic, behavioral, and social goals.
  • Attend and actively participate in professional development opportunities to enhance teaching practices and knowledge in special education.
  • Utilize creative and evidence-based teaching strategies to accommodate various learning styles and abilities.
  • Conduct ongoing assessments and progress monitoring to track students' academic and behavioral growth.
  • Deliver engaging and differentiated instruction across subjects to meet the unique needs of each student.
  • Collaborate with general education teachers and support staff to ensure inclusive practices and academic success for all students.
  • Create a positive and supportive classroom environment that fosters a sense of belonging and encourages student participation.


Requirements


  • Knowledge of best practices in special education and a commitment to staying informed about advancements in the field.
  • Previous experience working as a Special Education Teacher is preferred, but enthusiastic new graduates are also encouraged to apply.
  • Empathy, patience, and a passion for helping students with special needs succeed academically and socially.
  • Valid teaching certification in Special Education in the state of Illinois (or eligibility for certification).
  • Organizational skills and the ability to manage classroom dynamics effectively.
  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Special Education or a related field.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with students, parents, and colleagues.
