What Application Development & Maintenance contributes to Cardinal Health
Information Technology oversees the effective development, delivery, and operation of computing and information services. This function anticipates, plans, and delivers Information Technology solutions and strategies that enable operations and drive business value.
Application Development & Maintenance performs configuration or coding to develop, enhance and sustain the organization's software systems in a cross-functional team environment through adherence to established design control processes and good engineering practices. This job family programs and configures end user applications, systems, databases and websites to achieve the organization's internal needs and externally-facing business needs. Application Development & Maintenance partners with business leaders, investigates user needs and conducts regular assessments, maintenance and enhancements of existing applications.
This role is within Pharmaceutical IT supporting the Innovative Delivery Solutions (IDS) business area. In this role the candidate will be responsible for the application development and maintenance of a suite of custom developed applications used by the business for contracts, inventory management and price systems, patient utilization BI&A, AR/AP/Billing/Finance.

Responsibilities
- Demonstrates deep competence in database technologies, master data, data and analytics and integration.
- Collaborate with Business Analysts and Business Partners to evaluate business needs and priorities.
- Provide technical leadership, implementing the application architecture vision and integrity of the application environment partnering with other technical leads.
- Improve code coverage through front-end and back-end unit tests, and user interface automated test suites.
- Demonstrates knowledge of cloud technologies and interoperability including SAN, network (application routing) and compute platforms.
- Participate in development, oversees code reviews and sets standards for development practices.
- Ability to identify and present technical options and solutions that satisfy business needs.
Qualifications
- Experience using technologies such as Java Spring Boot, Spring Batch, Angular, SQL databases and RESTFul APIs in an event driven microservice architecture.
- BA, BS preferred or equivalent experience in related field preferred
- Experience in Agile (Scrum) project methodologies and DevOps Practices.
- Proven experience with large scale, enterprise software implementation
- Proficiency in data modeling, writing SQL.
- PostgreSQL experience is a plus.
- Exposure to cloud computing platforms like GCP or AWS.
- 4-8 years of experience preferred
- Conduct maintenance and support for the application landscape.
- Application retirement of legacy application landscape
- Experience with Cloud native technology and processes, including CI/CD pipelines and supporting technologies like Cloud Foundry, Concourse, dockers.
