Front-End Software Intern


Job Purpose:

Viking is seeking a team player who enjoys technical challenges within a fast-paced environment, applies sound judgment in successful task planning and execution, meets deadlines, and communicates the highest standards of professionalism in his/her work habits.


Nature of Duties:

  • Collaborate with other team members on shared items of work and communicate effectively in a team-oriented environment to ensure end to end delivery of features.
  • Ensure strong unit test and automated feature tests are delivered
  • Design of the User Experience (UX)
  • Enhancement and maintenance of existing storage management front-end software
  • Implement web services API integration (HTTPS, REST, JSON)
  • Working with Agile and Scrum for software development using Jira and Confluence tools
  • Develop the UI for a number of applications using HTML5, CSS, JavaScript and associated frameworks (Angular, React, Backbone, Node), JSON APIs, Web Services (JSON, XML, REST, SOAP), Unix Scripting (Python, Shell)

Education and Experience:

  • Working towards a Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field
  • Develop an understanding of the software development cycle
  • Ability to communicate and work with customers and end-users
  • Communication skills both verbal and written
  • Wants to create outstanding user interfaces in a commercial environment
  • Experience utilizing Agile development methodologies
  • Problem-solving skills - methodical approach
