Campus Dining invites applications for a food service worker in New College West/Yeh, a residential college at Princeton University in New Jersey. The food service worker is responsible for cold food preparation, setting dining areas, serving food, bussing tables, garbage disposal, and sanitation procedures.


Starting hourly rate: $20.57

Responsibilities:
As a food service worker, you will:
  • Observe all New Jersey State Health Codes and Regulations
  • Become familiar with food preparation procedures and regular use of standardized recipes
  • Operate the dish machine and return clean dishes to the appropriate areas
  • Serve customers and prepare items as requested at food stations
  • Observe and record food and equipment temperatures in accordance with HACCP policies
  • Watch for safety/sanitary hazards or malfunctioning equipment
  • Maintain the kitchen and food stations in a clean, safe fashion
  • Assist in daily, weekly, and other periodic cleaning and maintenance duties
  • Prepare the service area prior to each meal period
  • Break down and store food items at the end of each day’s final meal period
Qualifications:
  • The ability to work under a range of temperature conditions (e.g., kitchens, walk-in refrigerators, freezers, etc.)
  • The ability to stand or walk up to two hours at one time for a total of 6–8 hours per day
  • The ability to use arms and hands for simple grasping, fine manipulation, pushing, or pulling with force up to five pounds continuously (67–100% of the workday), and up to 30 pounds frequently (34–66% of the workday)
  • Ability to read, write, and follow verbal and written instructions
  • The ability to lift or carry up to 30 pounds from the floor to overhead frequently (34–66% of the workday)
  • Moderate physical agility, full range of motion, and ability to maintain balance
  • The ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, and reach occasionally (less than 33% of the work day)
  • Moderate physical fitness — as a food service worker, you must possess the following:
  • Capable of working quickly and efficiently during rush periods
  • The ability to lift or carry up to 50 pounds from the floor to chest height occasionally (less than 33% of the workday)
  • The ability to push or pull using force up to 50 pounds occasionally (less than 33% of the workday)
  • The ability to sit for no more than two hours during an 8-hour day, except for cashiers and card checkers who may sit for 2–4 hours at once for a total of 4–6 hours per day
  • Familiarity with food service procedures
Work Schedule

Food service worker is a biweekly paid position. Flexibility with scheduling, including early mornings, late nights, weekends, and holidays is required. Schedules may be changed due to business needs and work outside the unit may be required. This is an essential personnel position.
