L3Harris is growing the training capacity of the UK and European program in Sanford, FL. The UK CAA / EASA program is an exciting opportunity for trainee pilots to spend 7 months in Florida progressing through foundation and advanced phases, before returning to the UK for their final stages of airline training.


We are looking for a Training Manager to oversee planning, implementation, and day to day operations of the program. This position reports directly to the UK CAA / EASA Deputy Chief Flight Instructor.


Essential Functions:


  • Report directly to the UK CAA / EASA Deputy Chief Flight Instructor.
  • Assist the UK CAA / EASA instructor team to ensure a safe, high-performance operation.
  • Required to learn and understand the US to UK program differences to ensure an effective transition for instructor training and trainee performance.
  • Assist with recruitment, training and administrative tasks with onboarding new instructors.
  • Work alongside the UK CAA / EASA standards team to ensure a consistent high quality training plan for all trainees.
  • Ensures the quality and completeness of trainee records including review of training history.
  • Ensure that the policies and procedures of the Operations Manual are maintained.
  • Assist day to day operations of the UK CAA / EASA program including schedule oversight, utilization and trainee timelines.
  • Reporting of UK CAA / EASA trainee progress, performance and wellbeing.
  • Ensure that all training goals are met (e.g. student time-to-train, adhering to program equipment hours, trainee records completed on time) and if not, makes recommendations to the UK / EASA Deputy Chief Flight Instructor.
  • Forward any problems, including trainee performance difficulties to the DCFI for resolution.
  • Review trainee performance with the assigned instructor and implement additional training/tasks to achieve desired learning outcomes.
  • If suitably qualified, perform training on the UK CAA / EASA integrated flight training program (up to 30% of duty).
  • Identifies the need for additional aircraft qualifications within the instructor group.
  • Serve as academic advisor to UK CAA / EASA trainees.
  • Maintains the even distribution of student assignments with program.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned by management.
  • Work alongside the US management team to improve efficiency of training.
  • Approves trainee and instructor time off requests based on availability and ensures accuracy of timecards for direct reports.


Qualifications:


  • Right to live and work in the US
  • Bachelor’s Degree with a minimum 6 year’s prior relevant experience. Graduate Degree with a minimum of 4 years of prior related experience. In lieu of a degree, minimum of 10 years of prior related experience.
  • Flight Experience: - At least 500 hours pilot in command. - 50 hours actual or simulated instrument conditions.
  • FAA Certified Flight Instructor
  • Flight training experience, acquired as a certified flight instructor, consisting of at least: - 1 year and total of 250 hours.
