Salary offers are based on the candidate's equivalent experience and internal equity with other employees within the same job classification. The position is eligible for overtime compensation for all hours worked over 40 in the designated workweek.

The Fleet Parts Specialist position manages inventory, source, and supply of light and heavy-duty parts for the Maricopa County Equipment Services Department. You will certify the accuracy of invoice receipts, maintenance needs, and timely distribution of facility-related commodities.

We Require


  • Two years of experience in obtaining, storing, and issuing automotive or construction equipment parts
  • An equivalent combination of post-secondary education and/or job-related experience may substitute for the required experience on a year-for-year basis
  • Must complete a Certified Agency Procurement Aide (CAPA) within six months of hire date
  • Must possess or have the ability to obtain a valid Arizona driver's license at the time of hire
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must complete a valid Forklift Operator Training Program within six months of hire

  • Certification as either an Automotive Parts Specialist (P2) or Medium/Heavy Truck Parts Specialist (P1)
  • Experience with Microsoft Office


Job Contributions


  • Maintain inventory by ensuring adequate stock levels, performing inventory counts, and adding and removing stocked inventory as needed
  • Dispatch delivery drivers depending on priority
  • Receive items from vendors while checking for accuracy of pricing and quantity
  • Assist in invoicing by accurately posting parts to work orders
  • Coordinate return to vendors and confirm that proper credit is processed
  • Maintain effective and cooperative working relationships with employees and the public
  • Sustain a safe work environment and uphold all workplace safety compliance standards
  • Source and supply parts for the fleet maintenance team
  • Act as backup delivery driver to pick up parts from vendors when necessary


Working Conditions


  • Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, or pulling up to 50 pounds. Generally, the job requires 50% sitting and 50% walking/standing. Must be able to climb up and down office stairs. Primarily working in an industrial work environment. Must be able to manage frequent interruptions, time pressures, high work volumes, multiple tasks, unscheduled tasks, and team-oriented activities. Must constantly maintain concentration, accuracy, ethical behavior, and a professional demeanor. Must be able to operate a county vehicle to pick up parts from vendors. Exposure to heat, cold, dampness, dust, pollen, odors, fumes, etc. Exposure to chemicals, petroleum products, cleaning agents, fumes, etc.
