Job Description
Beitzel Corporation is an Industrial Construction and Service Company with nearly 50 years of experience in the Energy, Mining, Industrial Construction, Aggregate, and Renewables Industries. The Corporate Headquarters are located in Grantsville, MD with several offices throughout the country.
Beitzel Corporation is now accepting applications for (1) full-time Shop Fitter/Fabricator. The Shop Fitter/Fabricator will utilize various fitting and welding techniques to fabricate metal components as specified by blueprints, work orders, and/or oral instructions. Duties include the use and maintenance of related shop equipment for fitting, fabricating and welding.
The Shop Fitter/Fabricator position will work out of the Bittinger and/or Grantsville fabrication shops. Occasional field work may be required. This position will report directly to the Shop Foreman.

  • Advanced knowledge of materials, methods, and the tools involved in the construction or repair of metal fabrications or other structures
  • Must have a minimum of 2 years of welding and fabrication experience in an Industrial Metal Shop
  • Ability to read and interpret WPS with the ability to adjust machine settings to conform to WPS while maintaining desired arc
  • Proficient in use of manual plasma cutter and oxyfuel cutting torch
  • Mechanical skills and aptitude a must
  • Proficient in use/reading of various measuring devices
  • This position is subject to the Beitzel Corporations Drug and Alcohol Testing Policy which includes pre-employment, post-accident, random, reasonable suspicion, return to duty, and follow-up testing
  • Must be AWS certified – successful completion of weld test required prior to employment
  • Team-oriented and able to work effectively and efficiently with others
  • Willing and able to work a flexible schedule as needed to including weekends and extended hours
  • Proficient in ability read and interpret blueprints, work orders and job instructions
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Proficient in GMAW (MIG). Competent in SMAW (Stick) and GTAW (TIG)
Working Conditions
  • Ability to perform physical activities that require considerable use of arms and legs and moving whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, kneeling, crouching and handling of materials.
  • Must be safety and customer-focused, without exception
  • Ability to lift up to 80lbs unassisted
