This Financial Analyst position provides a unique opportunity to grow your career by deepening your financial expertise while also providing executive leadership visibility. You will not only have exposure to several business units and organizations but will build out new metrics and analyses as we shift to a complete SaaS business model.

Success in the Role: What are the performance outcomes over the first 6-12 months you will work toward completing?

• Within 360 days, you will be comfortable with the inner workings of VMware finance and be able work intelligently across multiple projects and teams as a valued member of the organization.
• Within 180 days, you will be the main point of contact for financial information, analysis, close activities, and planning and forecasting. You will be able to build and structure your own analysis for projects spanning from partner investment decisions to business process improvements.
• In the first 30 days of employment, you will become competent in the systems and processes of the VMware finance organization, while learning about your respective core deliverables. You should exhibit an active curiosity about the channel partnership strategies and strive to learn from your peers and business leaders.
• Within 90 days you will be providing key insights and data to our business partners, as well as forecasting and planning our channel bookings with the help of sales and marketing leads. You should be taking ownership of any relevant ad-hoc requests and have firm product and RTM knowledge.

The Work: What type of work will you be doing? What assignments, requirements, or skills will you be performing on a regular basis?

• Analyze large data sets across VMW to unlock insights about our business and summarize for executive level audiences.
• Support the global finance team to run weekly forecasting and reporting as needed.
• Drive projects from definition, planning, execution, and change management through standardized project management approaches, working in partnership with various functional and technical teams.
• Participate in Channel Finance wide initiatives to drive process improvement to scale for growth and create positive impacts across the Channel Partner organization and VMware Finance.
• Partner with Business and Data Intelligence team to define key KPI’s and design views to help plan, forecast and measure business results in the most effective way.
• Maintain quarterly financial key metrics package to track yearly investment target variances.
• Assist in building automated bookings reporting and revamping Channel Finance internal dashboards.
• Develop strong operational knowledge on the critical systems like Hyperion, Essbase & SAP HANA/BOBJ, Tableau.
• Develop Bookings/Revenue planning, reporting and KPI creation for SaaS offerings.
• Collaborate with other Finance teams within VMware to enhance the function’s contribution to the company; share best practices, identify gaps, drive change and help determine priorities

The hiring manager for this role is the Director for Strategic Partners, leading finance for the Worldwide Commercial and Sales organization. The Channel Partner Finance team’s overall mission is to provide trusted and insightful financial information to enable the executive leadership teams to make effective decisions in maximizing VMware’s partner performance. This team also has a strong focus to enhance the quality, efficiency, and scale of financial information produced, through process improvements, financial tools, and automation.

Where is this role located?

Flexible: The role is considered flexible within PST or CST and will be a mix of working from a local VMware office and remote depending on your preferences and the arrangements determined with your future manager. You will be expected to live within a reasonable commute of the office.

What are the skills that may be helpful for success?

• Working within the Software industry and with data visualization tools (SAP HANA/Hyperion/Power BI/Tableau) a plus.
• Strong prioritization and organizational skills, including ability to handle multiple projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills and ability to partner with cross-functional teams across multiple business functions.
• Expert proficiency in Excel, solid experience with PowerPoint.
• Financial modeling and experience dealing with large datasets from databases with a focus on building scalable, repeatable tools & processes.
• Minimum of 1+ years of experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration/Finance/Economics or relevant field of study.
• High energy and a desire to work in a results-oriented, fast growth environment and comfortable dealing with ambiguity.
• Ability to work independently and manage day to day projects.

For US based candidates, the annual pay range (OTE for commissioned roles; Salary for other roles) for this position is: $59,000 - $134,000. The actual offer will be based on the role, location, and individual candidate experience. Bonus, commission, and/or equity may be eligible for this position.
