The Oil & Gas, and Marine Division is currently looking for a Workshop Technician/Field Service Engineer to support all business segments (Oil & Gas, Marine, and Electric Power) in our medium speed engine business. As a Workshop Technician/Field Service Engineer, you will be responsible for providing a variety of workshop services, technical field service support to customer and dealer teams, and maintenance and troubleshooting activities, all while keeping safety as the number 1 priority. The successful incumbent will also be responsible for analyzing, tracking, and working with respective departments in identification and resolution of Caterpillar Motoren (CM) product issues.

Job Duties/Responsibilities may include, but are not limited to:

• Provide basic field service activities related to control and monitoring systems like SCADA, PLC and other electrical and electronic equipment.
• Provide basic field service activities related to the load management systems, active and reactive load control, either in isolated power plant systems, utility tied power plant systems, or on board ship load management systems.
• Special service-related tasks as agreed with the team leader
• Provide hands-on, on-site mechanical commissioning support for CM products and Balance of Plant (BOP) equipment.
• Carry out NDT (Non-Destructive Testing) material testing as appropriate.
• Support Caterpillar Motoren (CM) customers with field service activities through direct contact and/or through the network of CM parts and service distributors
• Prepare high standard technical reports to well document the workshop service completed and other field services and commissioning related activities in the English language.
• When not traveling, provide a variety of workshop services such as cylinder head overhauls, fuel equipment overhauls, etc. in support of Caterpillar Motoren customers in the region.
• Manage Customer complaints and ensure they are resolved with both written and oral responses.
• Take responsibility for on-site service coordination including daily meetings with customer and/or any outside vendor service personnel.
• Successful continuous participation in service-related training courses to expand existing know-how
• Provide hands on field support during the mechanical and electrical servicing of CM product and BOP (Balance of Plant) equipment including alignment, vibration analysis and measurements, and other service-related activities.

Basic Qualifications:

• Good knowledge of Microsoft Office (Teams, Excel, Word, etc.)
• Proficient knowledge of application guidelines, failure analysis and troubleshooting
• Requires good internal and external oral and written communication in English
• Bachelor’s degree in a technical discipline and 3-5 years’ related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
• High degree of self-organization
• Experience in non-destructive testing (Magnaflux etc.) or willingness to learn
• Advanced knowledge of CM products and services or equivalent competitor medium speed engine/equipment

Top Candidates Will Have:

• Knowledge of natural gas, spark ignited, lean burn engines a plus
• Knowledge/experience with workshop processes and component overhauls
• Knowledge and awareness of safe working practices
• Knowledge of CM Service and Warranty system
• Additional qualification as electrician (for specified activities). This can be completed in a training course if not available

Additional Information:

• The primary location for the role will be Miramar, Florida
• This role will require 60-70% travel (global and domestic)
