Position Description


Field Service Calibration Technician will be able to calibrate pipettes, as well as scales/balances, centrifuges, or various temperature devices. Training will be provided, and technicians are expected to learn the skills and processes necessary to perform calibration work within the lab environment


Responsibilities


A Field Service Calibration Technician will be expected to perform the following
  • Equipment includes pipettes, bottle top dispensers, scales, balances, centrifuges, and temperature calibrations
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Develop skills necessary to perform calibrations independently
  • Maintain calibration standards
  • Develop skills necessary to produce calibrations at a specified rate
  • Must be able to perform these functions within a laboratory setting and/or supervised customer on-site
  • Will be required to perform on-site calibration, certification, and maintenance services on specific lab equipment at client/customer locations including interfacing with customers in person, via email, or phone
  • Learn fundamental calibration techniques and processes
  • Will work with management and other technicians within the lab to learn pipette calibration fundamentals, working to produce calibrations using the systems and SOPs we have in place


Travel 50-75%


  • Mixture of local day trips, overnights and out of state


Qualifications


Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities


To be considered for pipette technician, the following knowledge, skills, and abilities are preferred


  • Familiarity with basic tools
  • Basic organizational and time management skills
  • Previous laboratory experience is preferred but not required
  • Proficiency with office computer software including Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook
  • Basic mathematical skills including algebra, geometry, and statistics
  • Ability to learn new skills regarding calibration and calibration processes


Education and Experience


This position does not require any formal education however a two-year college degree or equivalent military experience is preferred.

  • Occasionally will be required to lift upwards of 75lbs
  • While performing the responsibilities of the job, the employee is required to talk and hear. The employee is often required to sit and use their hands and fingers, to handle tools and equipment
  • The employee is occasionally required to stand, walk, and/or sit for long periods of time
