Role Overview: Works independently in a flexible and fast-paced environment in the field and virtually to investigate, evaluate, negotiate, and resolve claims for our members and customers. Complies with company procedures and Fair Claims Practices of each state. Canidate's location - Columbus, Ohio area, and East of Columbus, OH.
A day in the life of a Field Property Claims Representative:
- Maintains pro-active agency relations in assigned territory with visits and communication.
- Delivers exceptional customer service throughout the duration of a claim. At times, this may include After Hour escalated emergencies and storm response.
- Keeps apprised of industry trends, related changes in the law, and continuously develops skills relevant to all aspects of Property Claims.
- Conducts an analysis of loss information and accurate application of policy terms in addition to an independent review of application coverage forms and endorsements to support fair and accurate claim resolutions.
- Promptly contacts involved parties to gather initial information; subsequently coordinates onsite appointments or utilizes technology to identify cause of loss and scope of repair.
- Executes prompt and accurate recording of facts in claim files; demonstrates a proactive pursuit of information relevant to the insurance claim in addition to timely and professional communication (verbal and written) with customers regarding their claims.
- Conducts investigations of property claims; documents claim activity and supports proper claim resolution.
- Works from home; maintains an office at private residence.
- Determines and negotiates settlement amounts, according to the policy terms. Supports all loss and expense payments with proper documentation, in compliance with authority and check security procedures.
- Implements proactive and meaningful methods to progress claim resolution; maintains an active diary to efficiently review pending files, communicates with involved parties, and conducts an appropriate evaluation of Loss Reserves.
You will also occasionally:
1. Utilizes data, technology, and analytics to support appropriate recommendations.
2. Completes expense reports monthly.
2. Attends periodic meetings at home office and virtual meetings.
3. Assists in resolving losses in other territories as needed.
4. Periodically handles a large volume of claims during storm events.
5. Performs inspections and tasks for other Units and Departments as requested.
You're a great match for this position if you:
1. Have a college degree or equivalent work experience.
2. Three years of previous property claims and estimating experience.
3. Knowledge of legal and industry terminology.
4. Knowledge of state and federal laws that affect claims.
5. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills to provide customers with clear explanation of claim summary.
6. Strong math aptitude.
7. High level of independent decision-making and reasoning skills.
8. Strong interpersonal skills for working with other associates, agents, members, various federal or state agencies, and numerous other outside contacts.
9. Ability to manage time effectively and work independently with little supervision.
10. Effective daily use of various office products, software, technology and business equipment, including computer, camera, recorder, Excel, Outlook, Word, and various mobile apps.
11. Ability to write property estimates; experience with Xactimate is a plus.
12. Valid and active Ohio driver's license.
13. Active in insurance-related studies such as AIC, SCLA, CPCU, etc.
14. Excellent investigation skills.
15. Are willing and able to carry a 50-pound ladder and access normal to steep pitched roofs
