Job Description

We are thrilled to extend an invitation for a unique living opportunity at our urban farm in Los Angeles and our rural farm in Oregon, within commuting distance to Eugene. This opportunity allows you to experience the rhythm and rewards of a farm season(s) firsthand, with an option to extend your stay if it aligns well with our mutual goals/expectations.

The position is designed to benefit those who can volunteer on the farm while maintaining employment nearby, or for those who are remote workers. As a token of our appreciation for your contribution, learning and accommodation will be provided, though we humbly request contributions towards meals and utilities to maintain the harmonious operation of the household, including appliance upkeep, high speed internet, WiFi, animals, water filtration, organic cleaning supplies.

We embrace permaculture and regenerative farming models. We engage in a plethora of activities including gentle tilling, soil assessment, fence construction, animal care, and the cultivation of a diverse array of crops. We also have a keen interest in beekeeping. Our farms are not just about farming; they're about building community engagement, expanding our volunteer base, finding ways to carefully manage a small acreage to produce big outputs.

An ideal candidate for us would be someone with an interest or experience in permaculture, nonprofit work, and community service, with a desire to learn farming/holistic agriculture, who loves animals and nature. It can get quiet on the farm, but there are big cities within 1-2hrs, and small towns 20mins away. Beyond farming, our farms also serve as educational hubs for digital literacy and tech training, offering instruction and live training in help desk operations, information security, networking, and low voltage wiring. We've also forged partnerships with local organizations to provide access to computer equipment and cloud services training.

Our mornings often start with hikes, and when the weather permits, we enjoy yoga sessions amidst the tranquility of the forest. Potential projects on the farm might include assembly of hoop houses or greenhouses, agroforestry, and small construction tasks. There will also be plenty of opportunities to explore the local area, visit nearby cities, and engage with other nonprofits and community activities.

We offer a unique profit-sharing arrangement for volunteers involved in our projects who stay with us for more than three months, providing a pathway for advancement. We aim to create an environment of solitude and collaboration, personal growth and shared achievement, all rooted in a deep respect for the land that sustains us. By joining us, you will contribute to a mission that marries sustainable farming, community service, and digital empowerment in a holistic approach to individual and community development.

All onsite farm personell must be vetted with background checks due to potential of us working with local schools and participating in projects as a team. We welcome everyone to apply as we build a volunteer list and prepare to host. Thank you!
