Job Description
The Family Services Program Associate provides guidance and support to low- and moderate-income households with the goal of accessing and/or sustaining homeownership. Key aspects of the position are to build strong partnerships with program participants and the Habitat Omaha team to coordinate the homeownership program; contribute to the development of homeowner education programs, facilitate the home buying process from application to mortgage pre-close. Additionally, the Program Specialist leads the strategic outreach work of Family Services to ensure program participants represent the diversity of the Omaha community and provide equal access to all Habitat Omaha programs.


Requirements


PRINCIPLE DUTIES:


  • Supports intake process by participating in orientations and processing applications, as needed;
  • Coordinates homeownership outreach efforts including hosting Open House events for community partners/referral agencies and greater Omaha community showcasing the homeownership program;
  • Contributes to the homeownership team to determine the affordability of mortgage and low interest home loan rate based on family income and Habitat Omaha housing inventory;
  • Coordinates with mortgage team to maintain compliance with loan regulations and provide continuing education for staff and volunteers;
  • Measures and reports on success outcomes, identifies areas for improvement and recommends changes in home ownership programs;
  • Leads and guides Habitat program participants to develop household money management and homeownership skills through individual coaching sessions and workshops;
  • Ensures program data is accurate and available in paper and database format for timely cross departmental reporting.
  • Collaborates with other Program staff in the ongoing development of a strong financial coaching & homeownership program focused on working with low- and moderate-income households with the goal of accessing and sustaining affordable homeownership;
  • Schedules, coaches and provides support to program participants in meeting the ‘Sweat Equity’ requirements of the homeownership program;
  • Maintains current certifications and industry knowledge through research, workshops, training and required compliance.
  • Develops action plans in partnership with program participants to improve homeownership success including referrals to appropriate community resources;


Requirements


  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, required. Bi- multi-lingual, a plus;
  • Highly motivated and organized towards team success including organizational goals and individual professional development goals;
  • Outstanding customer service skills with diverse, multi-lingual populations and organizational partners;
  • Associate’s degree or higher in Human Services or commensurate experience in case management, loan origination or human services;
  • Demonstrated experience in program and process evaluation and analysis;
  • Demonstrated experience in development, implementation & measurement of strategic community recruitment programs.
  • MS Office suite and database experience required;
