NREL’s Site Operations group is looking for a junior Facility Manager at our Flatirons Campus to assist the Facility Manager with all facility-related activities, primarily for industrial-type facilities like laboratory buildings and associated infrastructure. Responsibilities include collaborating with researchers, program managers, technicians, engineers, and environmental safety and health personnel for activities conducted within buildings, conducting plan of the week meetings with stakeholders, ensuring that facilities are safe and functioning well, resolving issues received from building occupants, technical/engineering operations and facilities management best practices, inspecting buildings’ structures to determine repairs or renovations, and related support as directed. Excellent verbal and written communication skills, and organizational/leadership skills are preferred. Responsibilities include:
  • Support overseeing all building functions
  • Support coordination with department heads and building contractors
  • Planning building maintenance and operational programs
  • Support utility systems inspections in accordance with regulations
  • Ensuring all processes and compliance programs are met
  • Support facilities planning and space allocation
  • Ensuring efficiency of all building systems
  • Coordinating site safety programs
  • Coordinating all maintenance issues and schedules
  • Help preparing operating reports and budgets

Basic Qualifications
Relevant Bachelor's Degree and 5 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant Master's Degree and 3 or more years of experience or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant PhD or equivalent relevant education/experience. Or, relevant JD or equivalent relevant education/experience. Complete understanding and wide application of technical principles, theories and concepts in the field. General knowledge of other related disciplines. Considerable knowledge of laws, regulations, principles, procedures and practices related to specific field. Strong leadership, project management and problem solving skills. Ability to use various computer software programs.
  • Must meet educational requirements prior to employment start date.

Annual Salary Range (based on full-time 40 hours per week)
Job Profile: Professional III / Annual Salary Range: $77,600 - $139,700
NREL takes into consideration a candidate’s education, training, and experience, expected quality and quantity of work, required travel (if any), external market and internal value, including seniority and merit systems, and internal pay alignment when determining the salary level for potential new employees.
