Job Description
By The Hand Club is a Christian, after-school program that emphasizes academic excellence while nurturing the whole child – mind, body and soul. By The Hand is a not for profit, religious organization. Individuals employed by By The Hand are working in ministerial roles and perform all or some of the following responsibilities: sharing the Gospel, teaching chapel, leading Bible studies, discipling students and modeling behavior that is consistent with Christ’s teaching.
Overview of Position
The Facilities Manager assists the Director of Facilities and Senior Manager of Faciities with all facilities operations of By The Hand. This includes all duties related to custodial care and property and vehicle management. The position helps oversee the work of our housekeeping vendor to ensure general maintenance and facilities operations are well executed.
Responsibilities
  • Ensures building exteriors are well maintained including daily trash removal, landscaping and snow removal.
  • Repairs maintenance and custodial equipment and orders supplies as needed.
  • Conducts daily facility checks and quickly addresses breakdowns, and all other facility or maintenance related problems, and ensures remedies are implemented completely.
  • Ensures fire inspections are conducted according to schedule and that extinguishers are routinely serviced and in good working order.
  • As directed by BTH leadership, will follow policies and procedures to further the BTH religious purpose and religious freedom.
  • Maintains internal standards for facilities, equipment, furnishings and fixtures.
  • Maintains vehicles and ensures they are clean and well-functioning and ready for use at all times.
  • Works in a way that is consistent with the vision, mission and culture of By The Hand and ensures excellence in every aspect of the overall operation.
  • Performs all other duties as required and assigned.
  • Executes facilities maintenance programs including preventative maintenance and replacement schedules.
  • Tracks the status of work and project completion and all maintenance and operations activities.
Qualifications
Candidates should have at least three years’ experience in engineering, facilities maintenance and management, or a related field. Candidates should also have:
  • Willing to adhere to our Employee Standards of Living policy.
  • Knowledge of maintenance management, safety regulations and safe work practices, and fiscal management.
  • Member of a Bible believing church or an active participant in a Bible believing church.
  • A personal and saving relationship with Jesus Christ.
  • Exemplifies By The Hand core values.
  • Adept at sharing the gospel and does so whenever the opportunity arises with students, parents and others encountered in Facilities business.
  • Able to establish and maintain cooperative and effective working relationships with others.
  • This position requires a Christ-like servant leader who has a sense of calling and who models Biblical principles.
  • Demonstrated ability to cordially host community members and track record of establishing good community relations.
Education and Experience
  • Has completed an evangelism training and prepared to share the gospel with others.
  • Personal and saving relationship with Jesus Christ, evidenced by a lifestyle that demonstrates the Word of God and displays a commitment to regular fellowship with other members in a Bible believing church.
  • At least three years’ experience in engineering, facilities maintenance and management, or a related field.
Work Environment
  • Must be able to work outdoors and stand the majority of time during working hours.
  • The individual is also required to travel to other organizational sites to address maintenance, cleaning, repair and other jobs.
  • This position does not work remotely.
  • Requires movement of equipment between rooms and/or locations and lifting up to 50 pounds.
Physical Demands
The employee is regularly required to speak and listen. This role may require you to move equipment from room to room and lift up to 50 pounds. The individual is also required to travel to other organization sites to meet with staff, partners, and students.
