Job Description

Day Shift (Monday to Friday, 7am-3:30pm)

Job Title: Fabricator
Department: Maintenance
Reports to: Engineering Supervisor

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

: The fabricator makes use of machine tools, welding equipment and hand tools to fabricate products by performing many duties in a food grade environment. The fabricator is responsible for designing and creating food grade designs using jigs, hand tools, welding torches, and other machining equipment to create, modify, or develop manufacturing equipment. Evaluates detailed instructions, specifications, drawings, or documentation to determine how the components are to be constructed, modified, maintained, assembled, or fabricated. Works with blueprints and engineering drawings to determine project task sequences and requirements. Laying out and examining metalwork pieces or stock to be processed for ensuring that specifications are met. Handling, positioning, moving, and installing materials using arms and hands and manipulating things. Setting up and operating fabricating machines like rolls, brakes, flame cutters, drill presses, grinders, and shears to cut, form, drill, bend, and punch. Inspecting materials, equipment, or structures for identifying the cause of problems or errors or defects. Performs related duties as assigned by supervision.

REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:

  • Ability to identify and measure material, produce quality products consistently, follow instructions given both verbally and in written form, and to perform simple shop math including conversion of decimals to fractional equivalents and fractions to decimal equivalents
  • : A two-year college or technical school and two years’ related experience and/or training OR equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Food grade fabrication experience in the food manufacturing experience a must.
  • Required experience with steel, aluminum and/or stainless steel; and MIG, TIG and Arc welding; combination gas torch, grinders, etc.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS - Must be able to perform the following functions with or without accommodations:

  • The usual and customary methods of performing the job's functions require the following physical demands: frequent lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; frequent stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and frequent fine finger dexterity. Generally, the job requires the following percentages of time committed to physical activity:
  • The ability to lift to 40 lbs. is required
  • : 20% or more sitting, 40% or more walking, and 70% or more standing. The job is performed under occassional temperature variations and in a food manufacturing production environment. Unrestricted visual and audio abilities are required for the safety of all employees
