The primary purpose of this position, COMPOSITE/PLASTIC FABRICATOR, WG-4352-10, is to repair, modify, fabricate, remove and install composite or plastic parts, assemblies, sub-assemblies or structures with straight and curved surfaces that have a number of interconnecting parts and components. Responsibilities Repair, modify, fabricate, remove and install composite or plastic parts, assemblies, sub-assemblies or structures with straight and curved surfaces that have a number of interconnecting parts and components. Plan, layout, modify and/or fabricate complex critical configurations to composite assemblies. Operate, maintain and control tools and equipment used in fabrication. Utilize safety practices and procedures. Inspect aircraft surfaces for damage, integrity, deviations and other out of tolerance conditions affecting Low Observable (LO) coatings. Requirements Conditions of Employment Qualifications In order to qualify, you must meet the experience requirements described in the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) Qualification Standards Handbook X-118C. QUALIFICATIONS: Applicants will be rated in accordance with the OPM Qualification Standard Handbook X-118C for the WG-4300 Pliable Materials Work Family. Although a specific length of time and experience is not required for most blue-collar positions, you must meet any screen-out element listed, and show through experience and training that you possess the quality level of knowledge and skill necessary to perform the duties of the position at the level for which you are applying. Qualification requirements emphasis is on the quality of experience, not necessarily the length of time. You must clearly identify the duties and responsibilities in each position held and the total number of hours per week. PHYSICAL DEMANDS: Work encompasses standing, bending, stooping, stretching, and working in strained and cramped conditions. Frequently handles, lifts, and carries items weighing up to 25 pounds and occasionally lifts and moves heavier items with assistance from others or with weightlifting equipment. May be required to uncrate or load and move metal/composite parts and other repair items. WORKING CONDITIONS: Works both inside and outside and is subjected to noise and vibration from shop machines, high temperatures from curing ovens and heat lamps and to a variety of weather conditions. Work conditions frequently include exposure to dust, fumes, and toxic and/or potentially flammable and explosive chemicals that can cause skin, eye, and lung irritations. Employee may also be exposed to injury while operating machines and power tools. Required to wear safety glasses, hearing protection and other personal protective equipment (PPE) when performing duties. Education Additional Information Hill Air Force Base provides worldwide engineering and logistics management for the F-16 Fighting Falcon, A-10 Thunderbolt II, and the Minuteman III ICBM, and performs depot maintenance of the F-16, A-10, and C-130 Hercules aircraft. The base is located between Ogden and Salt Lake City. The area is known for year round activities, including skiing, hiking, boating, extreme sports, fishing and hunting, with four distinct seasons, low humidity and moderate snow fall in the valley.
